  1. 1. MANGO - Generating 2D-Magnetic Field Maps From Normal-Conducting Magnets Of Experimental Areas

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Ambre Visive; [2023]
    Keywords : Applied Physics; Particle Physics; MANGO; Magnetic Field Maps; Normal-Conducting Magnets; Finite-Element Modelling; Opera-2D; Git Repository; Python Package; Beam Lines; Experimental Areas; CERN; Tillämpad Fysik; Partikelfysik; MANGO; Magnetfältskartor; Normalkonduktiva Elektromagneter; Finit Elementmodellering; Opera-2D; Git Repository; Python Package; Partikelstrållinje; Experimentområden; CERN;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses the development of MANGO, a tool created to model normal-conducting magnets which were installed in the 1970s in the experimental areas at CERN, and store their analysis. MANGO formulates an answer to two problems faced by the physicists of the Beam Department when they model a beam line: first, how to produce new magnetic field maps and, second, how to easily access existing ones? It contains a multi-use package that offers an automated process to produce magnetic field maps from finite-element models of magnets. READ MORE

  2. 2. Life extension of welded steel details in bridges

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Author : Zhelei Jin; [2023]
    Keywords : Welded joints; Fatigue; Pre-fatigue; Life extension; Fracture mechanics; Finite element analysis; HFMI; ; Svetsade fogar; utmattning; förutmattning; livsförlängning; frakturmekanik; finit elementanalys; HFMI; ;

    Abstract : High-Frequency Mechanical Impacts (HFMI) is a surface treatment technique utilized to introduce residual stresses and extend the service life of structures. This project primarily focuses on studying the life extension effects of HFMI on welded structures that have undergone fatigue and have existing cracks. READ MORE

  3. 3. TEMPERATURE MODELLING OF GEAR MESH

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Ahsan Kadevalappil Ajilan; [2023]
    Keywords : Helical gear; Power loss; MATLAB; ANSYS; Spiralväxel; Strömförlust; MATLAB; ANSYS;

    Abstract : Temperature control is an essential aspect of gear design. Continuous research is going on to improve the efficiency of gear systems. Power losses or energy losses in these systems typically manifest themselves as increased temperatures and thus reducing the lifetime and overall performance of the system. READ MORE

  4. 4. FEM Analysis of paperboard packaging

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Wen-Che Li; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The work aims to provide a finite element model using Ansys Workbench for realistically simulating paperboard packages. The geometrical properties of a package and the loading conditions were altered to investigate their influence on the box behavior and the applicability of Ansys as the finite element solver for paperboard material. 5. 5. Mechanical Design, Analysis, and Manufacturing of Wind Tunnel Model and Support Structure

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Luis Alfonso Penela Guerrero; [2022]
    Keywords : Aerospace; wind tunnel testing; lightweight structures; UAV; composite materials; Flyg; vindtunneltestning; Lättkonstruktioner; UAV; kompositmaterial;

    Abstract : The use of wind tunnel models for aerodynamic research is nowadays indispensable to aviation progress in the last years as aircrafts have become more complex. Wind tunnel model design and manufacturing has adopted many different processes and materials such as the use of a five-axis CNC; making this process a relatively long and expensive one. READ MORE
