  1. 1. Effects of stratospheric wildfire smoke on ozone depleting substances and ozone levels in the northern midlatitudes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Christopher Grüner; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The goal of this project was to examine whether there are correlations between recent wildfires in the northern hemisphere and stratospheric ozone anomalies in the midlatitudes following the creation of ozone depleting substances. To achieve this goal, data from the Aura satellite's Microwave Limb Sounder instrument was used and processed with self-written Python scripts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Secondary aerosol formation from dimethyl sulfide - Smog chamber experiments and detailed process modelling

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Dana Lüdemann; [2020]
    Keywords : aerosol modelling; atmospheric physics and chemistry; marine aerosols; ADCHAM; aerosol; dimethyl sulfide; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the secondary aerosol formation from dimethylsulfide (DMS) using the aerosol dynamics, gas- and particle-phase chemistry kinetic multi-layer model, ADCHAM. The first simulations, concerning the butanol oxidation via hydroxyl radicals (OH), were performed to characterize the UV-light source of the AURA smog chamber (Aarhus university, Denmark), later used for the DMS experiments. 3. 3. Tracing Shadows : The “analogue” and  the indexical sign-status of the photographic object

    University essay from Institutionen för kultur och lärande

    Author : Sara Callahan; [2012]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This essay looks at the way the photograph functions as a sign, and how an interest in analogue technique and related sensitivities can be analysed and understood in selected works by Maria Miesenberger, Lotta Antonsson, Vera Lutter, Joachim Koester, Walid Raad, Simon Starling and Tacita Dean. A number of thematic, technical and conceptual interests and sensitivities are approached under the term “analogue”, in order to differentiate the “analogue” as a sign-function from the analogue as mere technique. 4. 4. Development of the Protection of Fundamental Rights within the European Union - an Improved Human Rights Agenda?

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Juridiska institutionen

    Author : Henrik Holmström; [2011]
    Keywords : Charter of Fundamental Rights; Human Rights; Fundamental rights; EU law; Fundamental Rights Agency; EU accession to the ECHR; Law and Political Science;

    Abstract : The Treaty of Rome which established the European Economic Community contained no explicit references to the protection of fundamental rights. This thesis describes the emergence of an EU acquis covering the field of fundamental rights developed by the EU judiciary and legislators in close cooperation with the Member States and the Council of Europe. 5. 5. Excitation processes in low pressure plasmas

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Angelica Brolin; [2010]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Spectral lines from mercury, barium and krypton were investigated to determine the excitation processes efficient in a low pressure plasma The light from a fluorescent light tube will be dispersed by a Czerny-Turner spectrograph and recorded by an ICCD camera. A matlab script was used to cut out the wanted spectral line and integrate the intensity from left to right up and down over the spectral lines. READ MORE
