  1. 1. Measuring copper abundances in the Galactic Bulge

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Nikolei Höglinger; [2024]
    Keywords : Copper; Galaxy: abundances; Galaxy: bulge; Chemical Evolution; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Context: The chemical evolution of Cu in the Galactic bulge have been studied in a few studies using red giant branch stars, but the ages of individual red giant stars are difficult to determine. In addition, the bulge has been a challenging region of the Milky Way galaxy to obtain high-resolution spectra of stars, except when observing through certain few small fields into the bulge that are known to have low extinction. 2. 2. Traces of Iron Age activities at Kullen - A New Synthesis

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Arkeologi

    Author : Karolina Jacobsen; [2023]
    Keywords : iron age; Scania; kullaberg; kullen; social structures; GIS; spatial analysis; assemblage theory; affordance theory; entanglement theory; power; resources; older remains; social roles; sites; functions; landscape archaeology; social; culture; activities; cultural landscapes; historical legacies; History and Archaeology;

    Abstract : Kullen has had a huge gap in knowledge about the Iron Age period. This thesis offers a new synthesis to close this gap in knowledge of the Iron Age period in the region. 3. 3. The quest for a classical bulge - a study of kinematics, abundances, and ages using microlensed dwarf stars and Gaia

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Calum Kvernes Macpherson; [2023]
    Keywords : Bulge; Milky Way; Kinematics; Galpy; Dwarf Stars; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Context: We present an kinematical analysis of 90 F and G type dwarf, turn-off, and subgiant stars in the Galactic bulge. These stars were observed with high-resolution spectrographs during gravitational microlensing events This allowed for their ages, abundances, and radial velocities to be ascertained while they were significantly brighter. 4. 4. The accuracy of road distances in the Antonine itinerary

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Antikens kultur och samhällsliv

    Author : Tomas Öberg; [2023]
    Keywords : History and Archaeology;

    Abstract : The Antonine itinerary was compiled in the early fourth century CE and is a key source to our know¬¬ledge about ancient geography and the Roman road system. However, the major research work dates more than 100 years back in time and few studies have been focussed on its overall reliability. READ MORE

  5. 5. To Gender or Not to Gender : A critical reassessment of how gender is – and can be – approached in archaeology, exemplified in two Scandinavian burial assemblages dating to the early Medieval period

    Author : Jessica Sander; [2023]
    Keywords : Gender; theory; Queer Archaeology; burial assemblage; Vivallen; Klinta; Genus; teori; Queer Arkeologi; gravkontext; Vivallen; Klinta;

    Abstract : Gender research in archaeology is a complex topic that puzzled scholars for decades. The past 50 years of it has seen a lot of theorizing, heated discussions, and requests for new additions to the archaeological toolkit so that this type of research can get a proper launch. READ MORE
