  1. 1. Evaluation of CoupModel in Predicting Groundwater Levels

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Emil Fagerström; [2018]
    Keywords : CoupModel; HBV; groundwater levels; groundwater level modelling; forecasting; CoupModel; HBV; grundvattennivåer; grundvattennivåmodellering; prognoser;

    Abstract : The Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) has initiated a project to calibrate models to simulategroundwater levels in monitoring wells of their Groundwater Network, based on a commission fromthe Swedish Government after experiencing historically low groundwater levels and shortage in 2016and 2017. A version of the HBV model with 4 parameters, focusing on calculating groundwaterrecharge and levels, was manually calibrated to 119 groundwater stations in 2017 and the modelresults were classified according to a ‘good’, ‘poor’ or ‘bad’ visual fit to observations. 2. 2. Production, sorption and pathways for dissolved organic carbon flow in the Krycklan catchment. : Modelling with focus on the terrestrial forest ecosystem.

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Francisco Mieres Dinamarca; [2016]
    Keywords : Dissolved Organic Carbon; Modelling; Krycklan Catchment;

    Abstract : Dissolved Organic Carbon accounts for many different functions in the boreal forest ecosystem. It is the main vehicle for organic carbon transport from the litterfall to the forest soil profile and together with water drainage it can be transported to streams. READ MORE

  3. 3. Supplemental irrigation of cereals in semi-arid areas in Ethiopia - is it worth the effort?

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Kristoffer Ristinmaa; [2015]
    Keywords : Supplemental-irrigation; Maize; Triple-Green-project; Coup-Model; Ethiopia; Sub-Saharan-Africa;

    Abstract : With a growing world population, estimated to 9.6 billion in 2050, the world food demand is estimated to increase with 45-50 %. One way to meet the demand is to increase the areal yield from the agricultural sector, where rain-fed agriculture has the highest potential. READ MORE

  4. 4. Environmental modeling study of water adequacy and yield from an irrigated rice field in Mali.

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Amhagiyorgis Tedla; [2015]
    Keywords : CoupModel; Yield; Irrigation rate; Evapotranspiration; Runoff; Nitrogen uptake and leaching;

    Abstract : A process oriented modeling of an irrigated rice field in a semi arid area of Mali has been done with the help of computational tool CoupModel. The model has been used to simulate two levels of irrigation rates, in an attempt to test and see adequacy of a recommended irrigation rate and its environmental impact over the current management. 5. 5. Quantifying the impact of climate change on groundwater resources of Bascombe well conservation park area by estimating recharge rates.

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Mojtaba Karbasi; [2015]
    Keywords : Groundwater; Modelling; CoupModel; Recharge;

    Abstract : Access to surface water is limited in Australia and many regions rely on groundwater for all their water needs. Most of aquifers are already fully allocated and there is an increasing demand for more extraction. During drought, drop in rainfall can result in less recharge into groundwater system. READ MORE
