  1. 1. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 2. Monitoring and Modelling of the Abiskojåkka Bridge

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Byggkonstruktion och brand

    Author : Kasper Furenstam; [2020]
    Keywords : Prestressed bridge; Abisko; Monitoring; thermal effects; FEM;

    Abstract : The infrastructure of today is getting older and problems caused by deterioration over time is affecting the service life of these structures. In Sweden most of the existing bridges were constructed 60 to 70 years ago, rising the need to determine the state of health of the bridges as the maintenance costs will increase heavily. READ MORE

  3. 3. The influence of modelling variables in FEM evaluation of fillet welded structures

    University essay from

    Author : Marko Cordasic; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Valmet is a world leading company in the pulp-, paper- and energy industry and is a manufacturer of e.g. paper machines. These paper machines are largely composed of steel frames for which beams and plates are often joined by welding. READ MORE

  4. 4. Linear and non-linear FE-analysis of cracking behavior of wing walls in integral bridges

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik

    Author : Andreas Ekman; Christoffer Sandin; [2018]
    Keywords : Non linear FE-modelling; Concrete Damage Plasticity; Wing wall; Crack propagation; Serviceability Limit State; Slab Frame Bridge; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Wing walls on slab frame integral bridges has traditionally been designed for mainly earth pressure and its self-weight. It has also been designed separately from the rest of the bridge. Traditionally no 3D effects have been considered in the design of the wing walls. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sharp Edge Cutting through Paperboard

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Daniel Jern; August Leek; [2017]
    Keywords : Slitting; Cutting; Fracture mechanics; Fracture modelling; Crack propagation modelling; Paperboard modelling; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to investigate the micro mechanical damage and the failure of paperboard during sharp edge cutting. Tetra Pak is at the very forefront of the food packaging industry and in order to keep this market position, continuous improvements are of great importance. READ MORE
