  1. 1. EVOKED PHASE COHERENCE AS A BIOMARKER FOR ADAPTIVE NEUROMODULATION IN RAT MODEL OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Author : Love Zackrisson; [2023]
    Keywords : Adaptive; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Disease; Rat model; 6-OHDA; ITC; Phase Coherence; Bayesian Model; Classifier; Spinal Cord Stimulation; Deep Brain Stimulation.; Adaptiv; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Sjukdom; Råttmodell; 6-OHDA; ITC; Faskoherens; Bayesiansk Modell; Klassificerare; Ryggradsstimulering; Djup Hjärnstimulering.;

    Abstract : Neuromodulation, such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS), has been shown to modulate pathophysiological brain activity and provide symptomatic therapy for several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease. The effectiveness of this therapy could likely be further improved by neuromodulation that is adaptive, delivering stimulation more selectively, by monitoring a biomarker in recorded brain signals, which indicates the presence of a pathological state. 2. 2. Quality Assessment for Halftone Images

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Medie- och Informationsteknik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Johnny Elmèr; [2023]
    Keywords : Image Quality; Halftoning; Subjective Image Quality Assessment; Subjective Testing; Objective Image Quality Metrics;

    Abstract : Halftones are reproductions of images created through the process of halftoning. The goal of halftones is to create a replica of an image which, at a distance, looks nearly identical to the original. Several different methods for producing these halftones are available, three of which are error diffusion, DBS and IMCDP. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neural Correlates of Parkinson’s Disease Motor Symptoms : A pipeline for exploration of correlation between neural and kinematic data

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Evelyn Steinbrück; [2022]
    Keywords : Parkinson’s Disease; neural modulation; neurodegenerative disorders; DBS; DCS; closed-loop neural stimulation;

    Abstract : Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, within this categoryof diseases it is among the most prevalent worldwide. The etiology of PD isbased in progressive deterioration of neural tissue in the basal ganglia (neuronalnuclei located at the base of the cerebrum) and their related structures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantification of motor behaviour in freely moving rodents

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Caroline Kattrup Frostemark; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Systems evaluating potential treatment methods for Parkinson’s disease and chronic pain conditions, using rodent experimental models, are highly needed. Currently used systems are aiming to evaluate these kinds of treatment methods by analyzing the animal’s motor behavior. READ MORE

  5. 5. Radiofrequency-Induced Heating of a Deep Brain Stimulator Lead inside TEM Cells and inside a 3T MR-Scanner

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Radiofysik

    Author : Haider Shaban; [2022]
    Keywords : Medical Physics; MRI; ;

    Abstract : The use of non-ionizing radiation in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) made it a safer diagnostic technique in comparison to the X-ray imaging method. MRI can also produce soft tissue images with a very high contrast without contrast agent which is another advantage that made MRI an important imaging technique for studying the mechanism of the deep brain stimulation (DBS) and for targeting the desired regions in the brain that should be stimulated.
