  1. 1. Structural Analysis and Redesign of a L90 Front Axle Casing

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Erik Berra Widén; [2023]
    Keywords : FEM; Ansys Mechanical; Axle Casing; Volvo CE; Wheel Loader; Redesign;

    Abstract : This thesis was commissioned by Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) to redesign the front axle casing of their L90 wheel loader to be more in line with their larger wheel loaders. The current L90 front axle casing consists of two parts bolted together in the middle. READ MORE

  2. 2. Design of cooling-air permeable coil support

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Rozbeh Ghassemi; [2023]
    Keywords : Topology optimization; FEM-simulations; CFD-simulations; Material selection; Topologioptimering; FEM-simuleringar; CFD-simuleringar; Materialval;

    Abstract : Coil supports are integral load-bearing components employed in generators andmotors. They serve the purpose of preventing excessive deformation and maintaininga stable position of the coils responsible for generating power and magnetic fieldswhen rotating. READ MORE

  3. 3. 4-Point Bending of Composite Laminates for FEM/FEA Validation

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

    Author : Pierce Cashin; [2023]
    Keywords : composites; 4-point bending; fiberglass; sandwich panel;

    Abstract : When designing structures and vehicles using composite materials, engineers need access to critical information regarding the composite materials in question. This information describes the strength, stiffness, failure mode, and other variables that can be used to properly determine how a structure will perform while undergoing various loads and effects. 4. 4. Weight reduction of reachstacker

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

    Author : Hugo Jönsson; Jakob Wallman; [2023]
    Keywords : Weight reduction; Reachstacker; telescopic boom; product development; Simulation driven design; FEA; FEM; Meshless analasys; cross section;

    Abstract : This thesis has been carried out together with Kalmar Global’s Innovation Center and covers a concept study about weight reduction of the telescopic boom of the Reachstacker DRG 450.The reason for this weight reduction is to ease Kalmar’s transition from fossil fueled to electric driven vehicles since less weight reduces energy consumption and leaves more room for batteries. 5. 5. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold.
