  1. 1. A Structural Analysis of the Fracture Sets in Gothenburg, Sweden: A Remote Sensing and Manual Lineament Approach

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Jacek Krysik; [2023-05-22]
    Keywords : Remote sensing; Manual lineament analysis; Fractal analysis; Structural; Regional geology; LiDAR; Gothenburg region;

    Abstract : The fracture-valley landscape within the Gothenburg region was analysed based on LiDAR-derived hillshade images as well as several sources of orthomosaics. Using a manual lineament interpretation approach and complimented with an objective fractal analysis software (FROST), the objective of the study was to characterise the regional fracture sets as well as attempt to link the sets to the complex regional geological history. 2. 2. Modelling of Fluid Flow and Contaminant Transport in Fractured Rock : Case Study

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Ebba Pegestam; [2022]
    Keywords : Contaminant transport; Discrete Fracture Network; Geology; Geohydrology; Groundwater transport; Fracture; Drinking water; Contamination; Föroreningar; flödestransport; spricknätverk; geologi; geohydrologi; grundvattentransport; sprickor; dricksvatten;

    Abstract : Drinking water contamination is a big concern in Sweden and is commonly traced back to being waste from former manufacturing industrial sites. Pollutants in the topsoil can be remediated by several techniques, such as decontamination or excavation but the toxins already enclosed in the bedrock cannot be treated the same and is harder to track possible contaminant pathways. 3. 3. Fracture characterization in magmatic rock, a case study of the Sosa-dyke (Neuquén Basin, Argentina)

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Nilsson Jim; [2020]
    Keywords : dyke; magmatic intrusion; fractures; Sosa dyke; permeability; intrusion; magmatisk intrusion; sprickor; Sosa intrusionen; permeabilitet;

    Abstract : There are many examples worldwide were fossil magmatic intrusions influence the local water and energy supply. Due to that intrusions can act as a conductor and a reservoir, but also as a barrier for fluids and gases in the ground. The decisive feature between conductor or barrier in an intrusion is its fracture network. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cleavage fracture toughness at varying specimen size and crack depth

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära (Avd.)

    Author : Håkan Jernberg; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cleavage fracture is one of the most severe failure modes in low alloy ferritic steel structures and the fracture toughness is strongly dependent on the size of the specimen, crack depth and temperature. This thesis investigates how the fracture toughness is affected under conditions that relates to size and constraint effects through a fracture mechanical experiment test series. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extraction of Follow up Parameters of Bone Density Microwave Sensor from Post Craniotomy and Lower Extremity Trauma Rehabilitation Measurements

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologi

    Author : George George Thomas; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Longitudinal microwave based sensor systems facilitates frequent follow ups in scenarios where healing information is largely missing. An example is neonatalcraniotomy where Computerized Tomography (CT) information is available mostly before surgery and up to three years after that. READ MORE
