  1. 1. Lateral Stabilization of CLT Buildings - Modelling approaches

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Byggnadsmekanik; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för byggvetenskaper

    Author : Lina Holmqvist; Sanna Källman Gleisner; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is an environmentally positive building material with high stiffness and load-bearing capacity. In combination with a low self-weight, CLT is a beneficial material to use for the load-bearing structure of high-rise buildings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimization of support in rock pillars between two parallel tunnels

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik

    Author : Alexander Kote; Sohaib Ishaq; [2022]
    Keywords : tunnel; rock pillar support; rock pillar stability; rock mass; stresses; arching effect; Nyckelord: tunnel; bergförstärkning; bergpelare; bergmassa; spänningar; valveffekt;

    Abstract : When two parallel tunnels are excavated under high to moderate horizontal in-situ stresses combined with minor deformations in the pillar between the tunnels, the in-situ stresses can be redistributed over the tunnels in form of two compressive arches and are transferred from the roof to the abutments of the two tunnels. At additional deformations in the pillar, a new redistribution of the stresses can occur creating one compressive arch over both of the tunnels. READ MORE

  3. 3. Parameterized Modelling of Global Structural Behaviour of Modular Based Two Storey Timber Structure

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggteknik (BY)

    Author : Daudi Salezi Augustino; Bernard Adjei Antwi-Afari; [2018]
    Keywords : Modular-based timber structure; FE-simulations; parameterized modelling; spring stiffness; friction; angle brackets and uplift plates;

    Abstract : The global stiffness behaviour of modular-based two storey timber structures was studied under prescribed horizontal displacements at the upper corners of the volume modules. To be able to study this behaviour, a numerical finite element model was created in Abaqus. READ MORE

  4. 4. Timber Shear Wall Analysis : Parameterized Finite Element Modelling

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggteknik (BY)

    Author : Imre Kormendy; Mustafa Muwaili; [2018]
    Keywords : Timber structures; shear walls; ABAQUS; FE analysis; parameterized modeling;

    Abstract : This paper investigates the linear elastic behavior of timber shear walls under monotonic prescribed displacement. ABAQUS© 16.4-5, is a numerical finite element software used as the primary analysis methodology.  Parameterized models are created for two shear wall specimens of different geometry concerning door and window configurations. 5. 5. Progressive landslide analysis : Applications of a Finite Difference Method by Dr. Stig Bernander Case Study of the North Spur at Muskrat Falls, Labrador, Canada

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Robin Dury; [2017]
    Keywords : Downhill progressive landslides; Slope stability; Sensitive clay; Deformation softening; Finite difference method; Brittle failure in clay; Liquefaction; Muskrat Falls project;

    Abstract : An easy-to-use spreadsheet version of a finite difference method for progressive landslide analysis has been developed. The finite difference method was originally developed by Dr. Stig Bernander, earlier adjunct professor at Luleå University of Technology and head of the Design Department of Skanska AB in Gothenburg, Sweden..
