  1. 1. Characterization of DNA binding of the two zinc finger domains of transcription factor zBED6

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Alexander Taubert; [2019]
    Keywords : transcription factor; zinc finger; zBED6;

    Abstract : The zinc finger protein, zBED6, is a transcriptional regulator of IGF2 along with hundreds of other genes relating to development and growth. Studies on the growth of commercially bred pigs discovered a single nucleotide substitution in the third intron of IGF2 which disrupts the binding of zBED6 and is responsible for the three-fold upregulation of IGF2 in skeletal muscle. 2. 2. Identification of protein-interaction partners of ZBED6

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Mi Zhou; [2012]
    Keywords : ZBED6; transcription factor; BAC TransgeneOmics; tandem affinity purification; protein interaction;

    Abstract : ZBED6 was recently discovered as a novel transcriptional repressor of IGF2 because a mutation disrupting one of its binding sites in porcine IGF2 intron 3 leads to greater postnatal IGF2 expression in skeletal muscle and makes pig grow more muscle. ZBED6 is unique to placental mammals and derived from domesticated DNA transposon. READ MORE

  3. 3. Epigenetic regulation of the Igf2/H19 gene cluster

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Author : Matilda Nordin; [2012]
    Keywords : Igf2; H19; epigenetik; prägling; metylering; kromatin;

    Abstract : Igf2 (insulin-lik tillväxtfaktor 2) och H19 är präglade gener hos däggdjur. Präglade gener uttrycks ojämnt; den allel som ärvts från den ena föräldern uttrycks mer än den från den andra. Igf2-genen kodar för en viktig embryonal tillväxtfaktor och uttrycks till protein bara från den paternella allelen. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chromatin functions : the DNA repair connection

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Jessica Pernerstål; [2012]
    Keywords : IGF2; H19 ICR; DNA repair; CTCF; ATM;

    Abstract : The aim of this master thesis was to examine a possible connection between chromatin functions and the DNA damage repair system, with the imprinted IGF2/H19 locus as a bait. Interactions can occur within and between chromosomes and it has been shown that H19 ICR on both alleles can communicate with alleles on other chromosomes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Importance of epigenetics in animal breeding : genomic imprinting

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Dijana Zeric; [2012]
    Keywords : Epigenetics; Genomic Imprinting; X-linked QTL; IGF2;

    Abstract : ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to give an overview of the evidence for genomic imprinting in livestock and other mammals as well as outline the potential use of gene imprinting in livestock breeding. Epigenetics is the mitotical and meiotical partial hereditary variation in genomic activity without any alterations of the DNA sequence. READ MORE
