  1. 16. Spatial Statistical Modelling of Insurance Claim Frequency

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Daniel Faller; [2022]
    Keywords : Insurance risk; claim frequency; Markov chain Monte Carlo MCMC ; Riemann manifold Metropolis adjusted Langevin algorithm MMALA ; spatial statistics; Gaussian Markov random field GMRF ; preconditioned Crank Nicolson Langevin algorithm pCNL ; Gibbs sampling; Bayesian hierarchical modelling; high dimensional; shrinkage prior; horseshoe prior; regularisation.; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : In this thesis a fully Bayesian hierarchical model that estimates the number of aggregated insurance claims per year for non-life insurances is constructed using Markov chain Monte Carlo based inference with Riemannian Langevin diffusion. Some versions of the model incorporate a spatial effect, viewed as the relative spatial insurance risk that originates from a policyholder's geographical location and where the relative spatial insurance risk is modelled as a continuous spatial field. 2. 17. Estimation of Water Depth from Multispectral Drone Imagery : A suitability assessment of CNN models for bathymetry retrieval in shallow water areas

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Qianyao Shen; [2022]
    Keywords : Bathymetry Retrieval; Multispectral Imagery; Convolutional Neural Network CNN ; Hämtning Av Batymetri; Multispektrala Bilder; Konvolutionellt Neuralt Nätverk CNN ;

    Abstract : Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are the main vector species for dengue disease and zika, two arboviruses that affect a substantial fraction of the global population. These mosquitoes breed in very slow-moving or standing pools of water, so detecting and managing these potential breeding habitats is a crucial step in preventing the spread of these diseases. 3. 18. Influence of surface water availability on the distribution of White Rhinoceros in central Greater Kruger

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Author : Julie Mauguiere; [2022]
    Keywords : White Rhinoceros; Ceratotherium simum; water provisioning; artificial water; ecological processes; habitat selection; spatial ecology; landscape use; KNP; APNR; SAWC;

    Abstract : The population of white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum) is now declining in the Kruger National Park (KNP) in South Africa due to the intense poaching crisis ongoing since the early 2000s. The need for an efficient conservation effort has never been greater and requires a better understanding of white rhinoceros distribution in the landscape. READ MORE

  4. 19. Predicting PV self-consumption in villas with machine learning

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : FABIAN GALLI; [2021]
    Keywords : Self-Consumption; photovoltaics; machine learning; solar energy; Random Forest; K-nearest neighbor; multi-layer perceptron; lasso regression; ridge regression; linear regression; prediction; Egenanvändning; photovoltaics; maskininlärning; solenergi; Random Forest; K-nearest neighbors; multi-layer perceptron; lasso regression; ridge regression; linjär regression; data-förutsägelse;

    Abstract : In Sweden, there is a strong and growing interest in solar power. In recent years, photovoltaic (PV) system installations have increased dramatically and a large part are distributed grid connected PV systems i.e. rooftop installations. READ MORE

  5. 20. Tensile strength reduction for insufficient thread engagement A FEM study of a wall-shoe assembly

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Henrik Larsson Sevon; [2021]
    Keywords : Solid Mechanics; Tensile strength; Wall-shoe; Thread engagement; Hållfasthetslära; Draghållfasthet; Väggsko; Gängingrepp;

    Abstract : The purpose of this master thesis is to determine whether or not it exist, a model that can describethe reduction in strength, due to missing threads in a bond between a bolt and nut. And how thereduction in strength might effect a wall-shoe assembly, used to connect a wall to another wall or aconcrete base plate. READ MORE
