  1. 1. The effect of high pressure homogenization on emulsions containing oat β-glucan : a study of viscosity, stability and molecular weight

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Dominika Kiesling; [2023]
    Keywords : oat; β-glucan; high pressure homogenization; emulsion; stability; food technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : This master thesis project has been conducted in cooperation with Lantmännen AB who are producers of PromOat® - an oat β-glucan powder concentrate. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the properties of emulsions containing PromOat® oat β-glucan, focusing on the viscosity, stability, and molecular weight before and after high pressure homogenization (HPH) at pressures of 100, 150 and 200 bars. 2. 2. Load-velocity profiles as a predictor of performance level in swimming : What differentiates international elite swimmers from national elite – force capacity or efficiency?

    University essay from Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan, GIH/Institutionen för fysiologi, nutrition och biomekanik

    Author : Maria Vitazka; [2023]
    Keywords : Load-Velocity; Force-Velocity; Force Capacity; Swimming; Biomechanics; Performance indicators; International elite; swimming performance; 1080 Sprint; 1080 Motion; Semi-tethered force measurements; tethered force measurements; maximum velocity; load; force; swimming efficiency;

    Abstract : Aim  The purposes of this study were to investigate if the load-velocity (L-V) profile parameters – force capacity and efficiency - differ between swimmers of different performance level, and to investigate if efficiency is the key performance indicator between international elite and national elite level swimmers.  Method  Fifty-four swimmers (27 female and 27 male) of either regional level, national elite or international elite level, participated in this study. 3. 3. Evaluation of the Effect of Quinoa-containing bread varieties on acute blood glucose and insulin responses

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Cecilia Nilsson; [2023]
    Keywords : applied nutrition and food chemistry; quinoa; bread; postprandial blood glucose; insulin; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Three quinoa-containing breads made from three different varieties of quinoa were presented as test products to be compared with a control of regular white wheat bread. The study was a randomised controlled single-blind, crossover in which blood glucose, insulin and subjective appetite sensations “Hunger”, “Satiety” and “Desire to eat” were measured in regular intervals during a three hours period after food consumption. 4. 4. Correlation between Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and in vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) of reindeer pasture plants : Korrelation mellan Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) och smältbarhet av renbetesväxter i vomvätska in vitro (VOS)

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Author : Jannica Helmersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Normalized Difference Vegetation Index; NDVI; in vitro organic matter digestibility; IVOMD; VOS; caribou; Rangifer tarandus; reindeer pasture plants; drone;

    Abstract : Renen livnär sig på många olika betesväxter och den följer växtfenologins utveckling under barmarkssäsongen, vilket resulterar i högkvalitativt foderintag. Levande växtbiomassa kan uppskattas på landskapsnivå genom att använda vegetationsindex som värderar vegetation utifrån spektrala mätningar. READ MORE
