  1. 1. A comparative study on anapproach to print Industrial Toolsvia Additive Manufacturing for Volume Production from Technical, Economic, and Environmental aspects

    University essay from KTH/Produktionsutveckling

    Author : Purav Mukesh Thaker; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The thesis explores a path to use Additive Manufacturing as an approach for volume production of Industrial Technique Business Area Tools, addressing the challenges of manufacturing complexity, low volume demand, and quality control for both Atlas Copco Industrial Technique industrial tools (Tool 1 & Tool 2). This study is done in cooperation with Atlas Copco Industrial Technique, comparing the technological, economic, and environmental performance of AM versus the current manufacturing approach from a round bar. 2. 2. Additively Manufactured Rare Earth Free Permanent Magnets

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap; Uppsala universitet/Oorganisk kemi

    Author : Himesha Abenayake; [2023]
    Keywords : additive manufacturing; MnAl; MnAl C ; rare earth free permanent magnets; selective laser melting; SLM; MnAl-based permanent magnets;

    Abstract : It’s well known that MnAl(C) material consists of a metastable phase (τ) with promising ferromagnetic properties, produced either by controlled cooling from the high-temperature hexagonal ε-phase or rapid cooling that freezes the ε-phase followed by low-temperature annealing. Due to the high cooling rates involved, additive manufacturing (AM) especially selective laser melting (SLM), has been identified as a possible method to retain the high-temperature ε-phase, hence containing a potential capacity to produce permanent magnets upon low-temperature annealing. 3. 3. Product-development for laser powder bed fusion

    University essay from KTH/Produktionsutveckling

    Author : Ludvig Dagberg; David Hu; [2023]
    Keywords : Laser Powder Bed Fusion; Additive Manufacturing; DFAM; Selective Laser Melting; Design for Additive Manufacturing; Laser beam fusion;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the differences in the design process when developing a product for additive manufacturing (AM) compared to traditional manufacturing methods, such as CNC machining. In recent years, additive manufacturing (AM), including metal-based laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF), has gained popularity, leading to increased adoption by companies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Powder Rheology within AM production : Evaluating Compressibility, Permability, & Aeration for 316L Powders Within SLM Processes

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : André Leo; [2022]
    Keywords : Powder rheology; AM; Additive manufacturing; BPF; Powder bed fusion; SLM; Selective laser melting; FT4 powder rheometer; Compressibility; Permeability; Aeration; Pulver reologi; AM; Additiv tillverkning; BPF; Pulver bed fusion; SLM; Selektiv lasersmältning; FT4 pulver reometer; kompressibilitet; permeabilitet; luftning;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing with the use of metals have been a steadily increasing field, being able to create products with a higher degree of complexity than traditional processing techniques. SLM is a popular AM process that uses metal powder as feedstock, and one of the key components of this process is the powder rheology. READ MORE

  5. 5. The aesthetics of value co-creation in an additive manufacturing firm

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Industriell teknik; Uppsala universitet/Oorganisk kemi

    Author : Arwin Zendehrokh; [2022]
    Keywords : value co-creation; innovation; aesthetics; organization; commercialization; meaning-making; additive manufacturing; selective laser melting;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D-printing, allows for rapid prototyping and complex design and gives an insight into how customers may use recent technology to co-create value. Metal additive manufacturing reaching market maturity broadens the playing field for the ability to create personalized products. READ MORE
