  1. 1. Genetic manipulation to improve efficacy of dendric cell adoptive immunotherapy against cancer in dogs

    University essay from Karlstads universitet

    Author : Felicia Berglund; [2023]
    Keywords : Adoptive immunotherapi;

    Abstract : To improve the efficacy of the dendritic cell vaccine Alv B DC from Alv B, the PD-L1 expression in cancer cells was attempted to be reduced through a transfection with a custom designed siRNA. Before transfecting the dendritic cells, the siRNA functionality had to be tested through flow cytometry, that resulted in negative results and therefore led to a RT-qPCR protocol that indicated that the siRNA was functional. 2. 2. Let Us Put Our Brains in the Spotlight – Literally!

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i molekylärbiologi

    Author : Elsa Karjalainen; [2023]
    Keywords : Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Neurons are the working force in each vertebrate’s nervous system. These small cells have the important task of transferring information in the form of electrical charges called action potentials. Neurons make it possible for us to sense touch, process our environment, and store memory. READ MORE

  3. 3. Design and production of adeno-associated virus vectors for imaging mitochondrial networks in the brain

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Elnaz Samadian Zad; [2023]
    Keywords : adeno-associated virus; mitochondria; mitochondrial networks; imaging; fluorescent protein; synapsin promoter; human embryonic kidney cells; organoids;

    Abstract : Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that function in a complex interconnected network within the cell. Neurons are sensitive and highly energy demanding cells in the brain which require a functioning mitochondrial network that is able to provide ATP and modulate calcium. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development and Application of Analytical Tools for Calcium Signaling Dynamics in MDCK-II Cells

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Hanna Israelsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Cellpose 2.0; MDCKII; GCaMP6m; Gap Junctions; Calcium; Ouabain; Cellpose 2.0; MDCKII; GCaMP6m; Gap Junctions; Kalcium; Ouabain;

    Abstract : Calcium, a pivotal ion in various human signaling pathways, holds significant relevance in cancer research and treatment. Investigating the transmission of spontaneous calcium signals between cells and understanding how they are influenced by different treatments is therefore an interesting area of study. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigations of miR-34a structure and dynamics by SHAPE MaP and optimal time between transfection and modification by qPCR

    University essay from KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Author : Ellinor Lindén; [2023]
    Keywords : SHAPE MaP; qPCR; miRNA; HNF4α; mRNA-34a; SHAPE MaP; qPCR; miRNA; HNF4α; mRNA-34a;

    Abstract : microRNA (miRNA) är korta icke-kodande RNA sekvenser som har fått ökande uppmärksamhet då de kan binda till mRNA och styra vårt genuttryck. Omkring trettio procent av våra proteinkodande gener styrs av miRNA. miRNA binder till mRNA vilket hindrar dess translation eller leder till nedbrytning av mRNA. READ MORE
