  1. 1. Total Monte Carlo of the fission model in GEF and its influence on the nuclear evaporation in TALYS

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Karlsson Peter; [2023]
    Keywords : physics; nuclear physics; fission; neutron-induced; evaporation; Hauser-Feshbach; GEF; TALYS; Total Monte Carlo; TMC; fysik; kärnfysik; neutron-inducerad;

    Abstract : Features recently added to the nuclear reaction software TALYS allow the use of the GEF model as a fission fragment generator. GEF generates data for fission fragment yields, total excitation energy (TXE), total kinetic energy (TKE) and individual fragment excitation energies (E*) with their standard deviations through Monte Carlo simulations for TALYS. 2. 2. Investigating a possible dearth of stars with zero angular momentum in the solar neighbourhood.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Aayush Desai; [2023]
    Keywords : Galaxy: disk; Galaxy: fundamental parameters; Galaxy: kinematics and dynamics; Galaxy: nucleus; solar neighborhood; stars: kinematics and dynamics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Background. Carlberg & Innanen (1987) first proposed the idea of measuring the solar re- flex velocity (the velocity of the Sun around the galactic centre), Vg,⊙, using the momenta of the stars in the solar neighbourhood. The proposal was a consequence of the work of L. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of an event generator for antihyperon-hyperon pair production in antiproton-proton collisions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Vitor Jose Shen; [2022]
    Keywords : MC event generator; Antihyperon-hyperon pair; Antiproton-proton collisions; PANDA; ROOT; 4-vector kinematics; Angular distribution;

    Abstract : The goal of this project was to develop a lightweight Monte-Carlo (MC) event generator for hyperon pair production in antiproton-proton collisions, and demonstrate it in one of the hyperon decay reaction channels, which is collisions of proton and antiproton to lambda hyperon and anti-lambda hyperon, and they decay to antiproton-positive pion pair, and proton-negative pion pair. The prototype of this external MC event generator we presented here is based on the software framework of ROOT. READ MORE

  4. 4. Spin correlations in top quark pair production at the Large Hadron Collider

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Simon Ahlstedt; [2022]
    Keywords : Top quarks; Top quark pair production; LHC; Spin correlations; MadGraph5_aMC@NLO; Dilepton decay channel; Leading order; Interference effects; Event generation.; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this work we investigate the spin correlation effect of the interference between signal and irreducible background events present in top quark pair production at the LHC at LO in the dilepton channel. To simulate the high energy proton-proton collisions of the LHC, MadGraph5_aMC@NLO framework is used as an event generator. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dwarf Galaxies in the Galactic Potential as probes of its internal structure

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Arn Marklund; [2022]
    Keywords : Numerical integration; Stellar Streams; Dwarf Galaxies; Dark Matter; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Satellite galaxies on bound orbits around the Milky Way (MW) are constantly subject to tidal forces from the MW. If the tidal forces are large enough, they may strip the outermost stars of the satellite, that in turn distribute themselves in long elongated stellar streams. READ MORE
