  1. 1. Data analytics and machine learning for railway track degradation: Using Bothnia Line track measurements for maintenance forecasting

    University essay from KTH/Väg- och spårfordon samt konceptuell fordonsdesign

    Author : Elie Roudiere; [2024]
    Keywords : Railway; Track geometry; Machine learning; Statistics; Predictive maintenance; Botniabanan; Järnväg; spårgeometri; maskininlärning; statistik; förebyggande underhåll; Botniabanan;

    Abstract : In this paper, a statistical method is developed to improve predictive maintenance on railway track. The problem tackled is being able to predict when the next maintenance event should take place to guarantee a certain track quality class. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction of a Portal Frame Railway Bridge - Numerical Analysis on a Case Study Bridge

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Rita Ikzer; [2018]
    Keywords : Dynamic Analysis; Soil-Structure Interaction; Damping; Railway Bridge; Portal Frame Bridge; Full FE-Modeling; Simplified Modeling; Dynamisk analys; Jord-struktur interaktion; Dämpning; Järnvägsbro; Plattrambro; Detaljerad FE-modellering; Förenklad modellering;

    Abstract : In the field of structural dynamics, a broader knowledge about relevant phenomena that affect the dynamic behavior of railway bridges is vital for structural engineers and design code administrators. The knowledge might benefit in an increased understanding of e.g. the resonance phenomena, and in improvements of the existing design codes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Vibration Control of a High-Speed Railway Bridge Using Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Heydar Beygi; [2015]
    Keywords : Tuned mass dampers; Dynamic analysis; high-speed railway bridge; Banafjäl bridge;

    Abstract : In the current thesis, the Banafjäl Bridge located on the Bothnia line (Botniabanan) in northern Sweden was studied. The bridge is a 40m long composite ballasted high-speed railway bridge. A 3D FE model of the bridge was developed using a commercial FE software, Abaqus. The FE model was calibrated against the measured data of the bridge. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reduction of Vertical Acceleration in High-speed Railway Bridges Using Post-installed Viscous Dampers : A case study of the Bothnia Line

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Sarah Rådeström; Viktor Tell; [2014]
    Keywords : Structural dynamics; viscous dampers; high-speed trains; resonance; bridge design; bridge construction; Strukturdynamik; viskösa dämpare; höghastighetståg; resonans; brokonstruktion;

    Abstract : Several of the bridges along the Bothnia railway line do not fulfill the requirements regarding vertical accelerations that are stated in current design codes. The acceleration of the bridges needs to be reduced, in order to make the Bothnia line suitable for high speed railway traffic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Miljökompensation vid exploatering av Natura 2000 : en jämförande studie av Sverige, Tyskland och Nederländerna

    University essay from SLU/Landscape Architecture (until 121231)

    Author : Kristin Rydell - Andersson; [2010]
    Keywords : miljökompensation; balanseringsprincipen; Natura 2000; art- och habitatdirektivet; fågeldirektivet; landskapsplanering; Botniabanan; Mühlenberger Loch; Rotterdam Port;

    Abstract : The purpose of the thesis is to describe how environmental compensation is carried through when it comes to exploitation of Natura 2000. The thesis also relates to the three theories of planning synoptic, advocacy and transactive. READ MORE
