  1. 11. Improving the Efficiency of Thermal Energy Usage in Residential Buildings by Heat Recovery from Wastewater

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

    Author : Pranjal Jain; Khaled Alturkmani; [2021]
    Keywords : Wastewater; Heat Exchangers; Heat Pumps; Biofilms;

    Abstract : This study aims to rationalize the consumption of thermal energy in residential buildings by recovering heat from wastewater inside the building before entering the central sewage network outside the building, by conducting an analytical study for a residential tower in Syria to find out the coverage percentage of the heat energy recovered from wastewater for the heating and domestic hot water loads needed for the tower, and calculating the percentage of reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) gases. It is a simple technology as the thermal recovery system consists of three main components, which are in order: a wastewater tank, heat exchangers, and a heat pump. READ MORE

  2. 12. Molecular Interactions Between Xanthan Gum, Psyllium, Milk Proteins and Starches, and Their Implications on Gluten-Free Bakery Products

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Carolin Bischoff; [2021]
    Keywords : Rheology; Xanthan gum; Gluten-Free; Food Technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Gluten in bread can cause severe health problems in patients with celiac disease. However, gluten-free substitutions often show impaired quality characteristic like a liquid dough because of a missing gluten-network or accelerated staling due to the high amount of gluten-free starch. 4. 14. Event Geometry and Anisotropic Flow in Proton-Proton Collisions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Johannes Holst; [2021]
    Keywords : high energy physics; particle physics; proton; collision; quark-gluon plasma; flow; anisotropy; anisotropic flow; elliptic flow; initial state; geometry; eccentricity; gaussian; cms; alice; lhc; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : We seek to better understand the relationship between an anisotropic distribution of partons in the initial state of pp-collisions and the amount of elliptic flow. We do this through the implementation of a new model that is based in generating positions for multiparton interactions from the uneven volume created by the overlap of two Gaussians. READ MORE

  5. 15. Characterization of retention chemicals and their effect on the paper forming process on machine PM4, Billerud Korsnäs Gävle Mill.

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Therese Alm; [2021]
    Keywords : Retention; retention polymers; retention microparticle; dewatering; turbidity;

    Abstract : In the papermaking industries spots in the finished product is a recurring problem. Billerud Korsnäs have in earlier studies identified poorly optimized retention systems as one of the reasons for these spots. READ MORE
