  1. 1. Local traversability assessment in an unmanned ground vehicle : An analysis of mobility on the UGV Husky

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Kidus Y. Getahun; [2023]
    Keywords : UGV; Husky; Robotics Operating System; Traversability Estimation; Vehicle Dynamics; Elevation Mapping; UGV; Husky; Framkomlighets Bedömning; Fordonsdynamik;

    Abstract : This thesis project aims to learn and understand more about implementing a path planner to the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), UGV Husky, specifically its traversability algorithm, and investigate how it could be further improved. A surrounding grid is generated around the UGV where each cell contains information connected to its traversability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigation of coarse-grid CFD approach for nuclear engineering application

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Michela Casarella; [2023]
    Keywords : Thermal-hydraulics; Nuclear reactor; CFD; Sub-channel; Coarse-grid; Turbulence; Pressure drop; Termisk-hydraulik; kärnreaktor; CFD; underkanal; grovkornigt nät; turbulens; tryckfall;

    Abstract : In this thesis, an innovative coarse grid CFD approach is developed that aims toexploit the capabilities of sub-channel codes and CFD methods while overcoming theirlimitations. In the approach, a very coarse mesh is implemented in the CFD softwareOpenFOAM and a new wall treatment, based on the traditional concept of the wallfunction, is applied to the wall boundary conditions of the domain to take into accountthe low resolution of the grid which does not allow to effectively capture the effect of thesolid walls on the thermo-hydraulics of the flow. Abstract : In order to reduce emissions and achieve sustainable energy systems, renewable energy is increasingly being integrated into the power grid. However, the integration of renewable energy into the grid poses several challenges, including maintaining a stable power supply under changing and unpredictable conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Role Based Access Control (RBAC) in the context of Smart Grids : Implementing and Evaluating a Role Based Access Control System for Configuration Loading in a Substation from a Desktop

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Gatien Ducornaud; [2023]
    Keywords : Role Based Access Control RBAC ; Cybersecurity; Smart Grid; Substation; Desktop Applications; Contrôle d’accès basé sur les rôles RBAC ; Cybersécurité; Réseau électrique intelligent; Sous-Station; Application Desktop; Rollbaserad åtkomstkontroll RBAC ; Cybersäkerhet; Smarta nät; Transformatorstation; datorapplikation;

    Abstract : Access control is a crucial aspect of cybersecurity, and Role Based Access Control (RBAC) is a typical framework for controlling the access to specific resources. However, in the context of Smart Grids, the usual authentication solution of using a trusted identity provider might not be possible to provide authentication of a user, as systems cannot rely on external services.
