  1. 1. Uranium nitride synthesis by gas/gas reaction of UF6 and NH3

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Serena Ambrosino; [2024]
    Keywords : Uranium nitride; synthesis; ammonolysis; uranium hexafluoride; uranium tetrafluoride; ammonia; X-ray diffraction; microscopy; Urannitrid; syntes; ammonolys; uranhexafluorid; urantetrafluorid; ammoniak; röntgendiffraktion; mikroskopi;

    Abstract : This thesis project aims to develop an innovative technique for the production of high-purity uranium nitride (UN) through the ammonolysis of fluorides. The desired objective is to perform a controlled gas/gas reaction between uranium hexafluoride (UF6) and ammonia (NH3) at 800°C. READ MORE

  2. 2. On intermittency in the turbulent asymptotic suction boundary layer

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Edoardo Foschi; [2023]
    Keywords : Turbulence; turbulent boundary layer; intermittency; numerical simulation; DNS; tripping; suction;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a series of direct numerical simulations (DNS) performed in order to understand the discrepancy in the literature regarding turbulent asymptotic suction boundary layers (TASBLs) at low Reynolds numbers. The hypothesis to be tested is that the main reason for higher turbulence intensities observed in experiments compared to DNS is that the latter exhibits intermittent patches of laminar flow, developing both temporally and spatially. 3. 3. Experimental Investigation of High Prandtl Number Flow in Additive Manufactured Channels

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : LINDA YANG; [2023]
    Keywords : Additive manufacturing; Heat transfer; Darcy friction factor; Nusselt number; Minichannel.; Friformsframställning; Värmeöverföring; Darcy friction factor; Nusselt number; Minikanal.;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) rapidly evolves and expands into new industries dueto its great design freedom and time savings. Injection molding is an excellentindustry where AM can help reduce cooling time by printing complex coolingchannels for more effective and uniform cooling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gravity water waves over constant vorticity flows: from laminar flows to touching waves

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); Lunds universitet/Matematikcentrum

    Author : Francisco Gonçalves Jorge Dias de Carvalho; [2023]
    Keywords : Partial differential equations; Water waves; Euler equations; Free boundary problem; Bifurcation theory; Nonlinear functional analysis; Hilbert transform; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : In a recent paper, Hur and Wheeler proved the existence of periodic steady water waves over an infinitely deep, two-dimensional and constant vorticity flow and subject to gravity whose profile overhangs, among which, waves whose surface touches at a point, enclosing a bubble of air. We take this further, proving the existence of a continuous curve of water waves from a laminar flow up to a touching wave for fixed non-zero gravity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical modeling of airflow on the cathode-side of a bipolar flow plate : How the formed geometry affects the pressure drop and flow distribution in a hydrogen fuel cell

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa, natur- och teknikvetenskap (from 2013)

    Author : Olivia Johansson; [2023]
    Keywords : Performance; Cross-sectional geometry; Computational fluid dynamics;

    Abstract : Climate change and rising temperatures is a well-known problem. To tackle global warming a transition from fossil fuels to renewable and reliable energy sources is necessary. Hydrogen, in fuel cells, is proposed to replace diesel and gasoline in the transport sector. READ MORE
