  1. 1. Theoretical study of anisotropic effects in crystal growth on the example of concrete and calcium oxalate monohydrate

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Vilhelm Ekberg; [2019]
    Keywords : anisotropic crystal growth; COM; C-S-H; PM6; ReaxFF$_{ textrm{SiO}}$; organizing molecular matter; nanochemistry; nanokemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : While many crystals, both natural and artificial, grow isotropically, there are examples of crystals growing anisotropically. The aim of this theoretical study was to confirm the growth modes displayed by three different crystals, representing 3D, 2D and 1D structures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lateral interactions between protein molecules adsorbed onto a planar interface

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Niels Kouwenhoven; [2017]
    Keywords : Monte Carlo simulation 2D Van Der Waals; nanochemistry; nanokemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : This paper seeks to express the chemical potential for proteins on a surface in terms of number surface densitiy. Generalized Van der Waals (GVdW) theory and Virial hard disk theory are explored and fitted to experimental data by varying the hard disk radius. READ MORE

  3. 3. The influence of salt in the formation of carboxylic functionalized mesoporous silica

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Ruiyu Lin; [2012]
    Keywords : Nanokemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Popular summary This master thesis was focused on the influence of salt, such as NaCl and CaCl2, in the formation of carboxylic functionalized mesoporous silica materials. Mesoporous silica materials are one type of porous materials with a pore size between 2 and 5 nm (1݊݉ = 0.000000001 ݉ ). READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantum Dots Sensitized ZnO Nanowires Solar Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Abdalla Abdelwahab; [2012]
    Keywords : Nanokemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this project, solar cell based on CdSe quantum dots sensitized onto ZnO nanowires was well fabricated. The following quantum dot-nanowire linker molecules were used: 3- mercaptoproponic acid (3-MPA) and 2-mercaptoproponic acid (2-MPA). The best solar cell efficiency was observed with 3-MPA linker molecule. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy in Analytical Techniques

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Mathijs De Jong; [2012]
    Keywords : Nanokemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) is a sensitive absorption spectroscopy technique, used in the detection of very weak transitions and trace species. A laser pulse is trapped in an optical cavity, in which the intensity decays exponentially. The decay is faster in the presence of an absorbing or scattering material. READ MORE
