  1. 1. Random matrix theory in machine learning

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Lina Leopold; [2023]
    Keywords : Mathematics; mathematical statistics; machine learning; random matrix theory; neural networks; Matematik; matematisk statistik; maskininlärning; slumpmatristeori; neuronnätverk;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we review some applications of random matrix theory in machine learning and theoretical deep learning. More specifically, we review data modelling in the regime of numerous and large dimensional data, a method for estimating covariance matrix distances in the aforementioned regime, as well as an asymptotic analysis of a simple neural network model in the limit where the number of neurons is large and the data is both numerous and large dimensional. 2. 2. Random Matrix Models

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Evangelos Tsolakidis; [2022]
    Keywords : Random Variables; Matrix Models; Graph Theory; Bootstrap;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we provide a self contained introduction to the theory of random matrices and matrix models. Our analysis has a chronological order and it begins with the study of nuclear energy levels and ensemble averaging which yields the famous Wigner surmise. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reducing Polarization in Opinion Networks in the Presence of Stubborn Leaders

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för reglerteknik

    Author : Samuel Selleck; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : We study the problem of reducing polarization (variance) of opinions at stationarity in a directed weighted graph with node set divided into two groups: stubborn, initialized with a fixed opinion and regular who repeatedly update their opinion to the average of their out-neighbors, known as the DeGroot model with stubborn nodes. We show how the polarization can be minimized for a number of simple constraints, but that the problem in general is not convex. READ MORE

  4. 4. Blockchain and certification for more sustainable coffee Production : how can blockchain complement the sustainability certifications

    University essay from SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Author : Christian Gashema; [2021]
    Keywords : Blockchain technology; coffee production chain; smart contracts; sustainability certification; traceability;

    Abstract : Blockchain technology is increasingly gaining momentum in the food supply chain, as a technology to shape trust by installing transparency and fairness through assured digital identity, digital traceability, and unchangeable records. The study aimed to evaluate the impacts of sustainability certifications in coffee production, with an objective to assess if blockchain technology, could complement the major applied sustainability certification schemes for more sustainable coffee production. 5. 5. Antieigenvalues of Wishart Matrices

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Matematisk statistik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Simon Calderon; [2020]
    Keywords : Antieignvalues; Wishart matrix; Hypergeometric function; Multivariate statistics;

    Abstract : In this thesis we derive the distribution for the first antieigenvalue for a random matrix with distribution W ∼ Wp(n, Ip) for p = 2 and p = 3. For p = 2 we present a proof that the first antieigenvalue has distribution β((n−1)/2, 1). READ MORE
