Abstract: Signaling Overhead has always been a concern for network operators. LTE offers many improvements aimed at improved network performance and management. This thesis exploit Tracking Area List (TAL) concept in LTE networks. An algorithm to design TAL using UE traces is developed. The performance of TAL design is compared to conventional TA design. Performance is also compared with rule of thumb TAL design which is another approach to designing TAL
