Efficient tracking of project status and progress

University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

Abstract: Software development is constantly changing and evolving and companies look for new ways to streamline and improve their methods. Many of these companies usually have several different projects ongoing in tandem. Keeping track of all the projects and making sure none is neglected or falls behind schedule is a real challenge. Slagkryssaren AB is a development and consulting agency specialising in app and web development. They have multiple large clients and multiple projects at the same time. Slagkryssaren does not currently have a consistent uniform way of tracking different projects in one place. To find summarised information about different projects, several different tools and pages have to be visited. This thesis will focus on developing a possible tool used to more easily track different projects as the company. This will be done by conducting a literature review, performing needs analysis interviews, designing a prototype in Figma and iteratively improving it by keeping a continuous contact with Slagkryssaren. The thesis lays out the groundwork as a pre-study phase of development. The prototype was concluded by the employees to be a viable foundation for a possible implementation into their ecosystem. Using a semi-structured interview format and keeping in contact with the end users during the process proved to be beneficial.
