Liszt Was a Womanizer and so Am I: Reflections on Practicing and Interpretation

Abstract: The goal of this paper is to research practicing and interpretation so that I can
improve the way I perform music. Taking frequent breaks, mental practicing, listening
techniques to overcome struggle, and score analysis promote effective practicing. An
interpretation can benefit from an awareness of the contextual and theoretical background
of a piece. Since any improvements due to this work are far in the future, I do not offer any definitive results.
