Kinect’s potential in healthcare

Abstract: This project investigates if a Microsoft Kinect has the potential to be used in healthcare as an assisting tool for doctors in their work to diagnose patients or by supporting rehabilitation patients with their exercise training. To test its potential, the accuracy in the skeleton data it produces has been investigated, and two different computer programs making use of the Kinect has been created and evaluated. The results suggest that the Kinect has the potential to be used in some fields in healthcare as long as one takes its strengths and weaknesses into consideration.
