Abstract: This thesis concerns the Laplace-Beltrami problem with FEM on two types of surfaces. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to explain the background and the general theory. In the second part I will show how to implement the theory with Matlab, and in the third part we consider a closed surface with no boundary conditions and a continuous surface with boundary conditions. The closed surface will be approximated with triangle elements and the continuous surface with quadratic elements.
