Abstract: In this thesis, a web- and tablet-based ePRO system to assist stroke rehabilitation was developed in an iterative and user-centered design process involving elderly and people with personal and professional experience of stroke. A limited part of a paper-based PRO questionnaire was transitioned into the developed electronic format and evaluated on five stroke patients using a qualitative usability testing approach, including observation and feedback through discussion and a post-test questionnaire. The results indicated that a tablet-based ePRO questionnaire could be both usable and applicable in this target group, with a majority of the patients preferring it over the paper-based questionnaire. Furthermore, the findings suggest tapping problems and cognitive overload to be specifically considered when designing ePROs for this target group, which may also benefit from a certain level of adaptivity to achieve personalized user interfaces and increased accessibility.
