GIS-based optimal localisation of beekeeping in rural Kenya

University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

Abstract: A Geographic Information System (GIS) based multi-criteria site suitability evaluation provides the means to locate potential beekeeping areas in rural Kenya. The criteria considers specific environmental and socio-economic variables. The resulting suitability maps analyse several locations where environmental variables aim to favour the location of beekeepers close to protected areas and forests, while socio-economic variables target isolated villages, and small farmers.
