A long lasting effort : A tentative business plan for a health care e-learningsystem in Tanzania

Abstract:

The aim with this master’s thesis was to investigate the possibilities for an e-learning function to sustain in the future in a national health portal in Tanzania. The project and the master’s thesis was done through a field study in two districts in northernTanzania and the field study was a collaboration between the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Karolinska Institutet (KI), Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) and Muhimbili University of health and Allied Sciences(MUHAS). The thesis gives an introduction to e-learning and how it can be used to further educate health care staff in Tanzania. The master’s thesis includes a possible business plan for the sustainability of the e-learning function and recommendations that should be considered when designing the business plan for the health portal. The most important results from the field study was that the technology is not ready for an e-learning function today in Tanzania.
