Dynamic Report Views - Implementation of Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools

Abstract: EnglishThe purpose of this study is to find out the suitable Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools(BIRT) for a stand alone system that can be implemented with it. It should also be able togenerate the reports according to the user requirements. From the market research, EclipseBIRT (EB) has been found as the best BIRT to be used among the twenty four open sources,free, and commercial BIRT. EB is an open source and free BIRT. Different technical details,strengths, weaknesses, features were analyzed to of all BIRT to select the best one. EclipseBIRT has been used to design and develop reports. The designed report was implemented andintegrated successfully with the GUI, which implies that third party BIRT can be used withthe stand alone system. This paper also contains description of different critical challengesfaced during project time and their solutions. Finally, Couple of charts also was implementedto test how it works; the developing time was estimated of the report and suggested someimprovements in the project as well as in the EB.//SwedishSyftet med den här uppsatsen är att hitta ett lämpligt beslutsstödsystem och rapporteringsverktyg (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools – BIRT) för att sedan utveckla ettfristående system med hjälp av detta. Dessa system och verktyg bör också kunna genereradynamiska rapporter enlig användarens behov. Efter att ha analyserat tjugofyra kommersiellaprodukter som finns tillgängliga med öppen källkod; jämfört dess styrkor, svagheter ochfunktionalitet, fann jag att Eclipse BIRT (EB) var lämpligast. EB har använts vid ett flertaltillfällen för att utveckla rapporteringssystem som integrerats med grafiska användargränssnittframgångsrikt. Vilket indikerar att EB är en bra tredje parts BIRT som kan användas vidutveckling och integration av fristående system. Den här uppsatsen beskriver även fleraproblemställningar och dess lösningar som påträffats och genomarbetats under utvecklingensgång.
