Utvärdering av utrustning för skörd av äpplen avsedda för färskkonsumtion

University essay from SLU/Agrosystems (until 121231)

Abstract: During the autumn 2009, a 15 hp degree project was accomplished. The objective of the study was to describe different equipment alternatives, suitable for fresh market apple harvest. A field study was conducted during the harvest period to evaluate the efficiency (kg / person/ hour), using the different equipment. Four different systems are described in the study; Pick-ing-bag, Picking-train, Pluk-O-Trak and the Conveyor Harvester. The information about the systems is based on interviews with growers together with previous studies. Fruit quality, work environment and capacity, are important factors influenced by the choice of harvest equipment. Previous studies showed that the picking-bag exceeded the recommended working load.During the field study efficiency was measured for Picking-bag, Picking-train and the Pluk-O-Trak. The amount of kg/ person/ hour was evaluated, both for Amorosa (divided in 2-4 tours according to uniform ripe) and Ingrid-Marie (only one tour). The results showed a high-er capacity using the Pluk-O-Trak, the lowest capacity was observed when using the picking-bag. Using a platform to pick the fruits in the top of the tree increased the efficiency com-pared to use picking-bag and a ladder. There are both advantages and disadvantages of using the Pluk-O-Trak or the picking-train (including the platform), but both of them have clear advantages compared to the traditional picking-bag. The individual grower has to consider the advantages and the disadvantages according to the supposed orchard, including economical conditions.
