Resolving and Transforming Conflicts: An Empirical Study of Track II/III Diplomacy and Its Interplay with Track I Diplomacy in Sino-Japanese Relations Since the End of WWII

Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to shed light on the role of Track II and Track III diplomacy as a means to shape Sino-Japanese relations. It studies the Track II and Track III diplomacy and its interplay and interrelations with Track I diplomacy in Sino-Japanese relations since the end of the WWII. It analyzes the function of Track II and Track III (or non-governmental) diplomacy and their interrelations with Track I diplomacy in resolving and transforming conflicts both empirically and theoretically. The non-governmental relations between China and Japan since the end of the WWII have been chosen as empirical studies. Liberalism and critical theory have been applied and studied theoretically.
