‘New Fire’ system - The student assignment submission system for Computer Science Department of Chalmers
Abstract: Nowadays ‘Fire’ system is used to manage the assignments of courses in thedepartment of Computer Science. Though ‘Fire’ system is quite good and satisfies theneeds of requirements, it still has a few drawbacks. In the thesis, ‘New Fire’ system isimplemented to modify these drawbacks by using JSF framework.
‘New Fire’ system will be used for students from Chalmers University andGothenburg University due to the students from both universities can choose the samecourse. When students register in the ‘New Fire’ system, they choose thecorresponding given course code based on the university then they can form the groupand submit the assignment.
The report describes the processes of developing ‘New Fire’ system. First step is toanalyze the system requirement and get the domain model. Then ‘New Fire’ takes useof Oracle as the database and uses Hibernate to get the entity classes. In the front-endof the system, JSF(Java Server Faces) framework is utilized to deal with the businesslogic and view pages. At the end of the report, the security issues and future workswill be discussed.
