  1. 1. 2D Reflection Seismic Imaging of Sparse 3D Data in the Zinkgruvan Mine, Central Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Maryam Abbasian; [2021]
    Keywords : 2D crooked-line; reflection seismic; sparse 3D; mineralization; Zinkgruvan; 2D modellering; reflektionsseismik; mineralisering; Zinkgruvan;

    Abstract : Zinkgruvan mining area in the southern Bergslagen mineral district of central Sweden holds over 30 million tons of massive sulphide mineralization. The ever-increasing global demand for mineral/metal resources, together with metal consumption growth especially for high-tech purposes has made the exploration of these resources of particular importance. 2. 2. Reflection Seismic Survey for Characterising Historical Tailings and Deep Targeting at the Blötberget Mine, Central Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : EMMANUEL ALOFE; [2021]
    Keywords : reflection seismic; exploration; tailings; sustainability; circularity; tomography; reflektion seismisk; prospektering; gruvavfall; hållbarhet; cirkularitet; tomografi;

    Abstract : Iron has been an essential element to human development and iron-oxide deposits are known to host minerals that are labelled as critical raw materials (CRMs), especially in the EU. Therefore, ensuring a sustainable supply of CRMs require access to both primary and secondary sources of their host deposits such as iron oxides. READ MORE

  3. 3. A 3D Sub-Surface Characterisation of the Arnager Greensand, South-west Skåne

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Gregory Marcel Davies Jones; [2019]
    Keywords : Arnager Greensand; digitization; depth conversion; reservoir; storage potential;

    Abstract :  A surface characterisation of the Arnager Greensand in south Sweden, a deep saline aquifer found to be suitable for geological storage of CO2 or energy storage, was undertaken in this thesis. Vintage seismic reflection data only available as scanned tiff images of the final stacked sections were digitized and processed using modern interpretation software to provide new insights into the morphology of the Arnager Greensand and to analyse the reservoir’s potential as an energy storage unit. 4. 4. Digitization and interpretation of vintage 2D seismic reflection data from Hanö Bay, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Nikolas Benavides Höglund; [2016]
    Keywords : seismic interpretation; Tornquist Zone; Hanö Bay Basin; seismic data; digitization of seismic sections; OPAB; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Seismic reflection data has been collected for more than half a century for both scientific and industrial purposes. Data sampled in modern surveys are collected, processed and stored digitally. READ MORE

  5. 5. 3D Processing of Seismic Data from the Ketzin CO2 Storage Site, Germany

    University essay from Geofysik

    Author : Jawwad Ashraf Qureshi; [2013]
    Keywords : Seismic processing; carbon dioxide sequestration; Ketzin;

    Abstract : The accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere is considered to be the main reason for the global warming effect. The emissions can be reduced substantially by capturing and storing the CO2. The CO2SINK project was Europe’s first onshore project for the geological storage and monitoring of CO2. READ MORE
