  1. 1. Modelling the chemical recycling of plastic waste via pyrolysis and analysing integration with existing refinery infrastructure

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Simon Dahl; [2023]
    Keywords : Pyrolysis; Recycling; Integration; Modelling; Simulation; Techno-economic; Plastic; Chemical engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Current plastic management is unsustainable as large amounts of plastic end up landfilled or in the ocean, necessitating an expansion of waste management infrastructure. Pyrolysis is a viable chemical recycling option, and in this report a pyrolysis model is constructed in Aspen Plus. READ MORE

  2. 2. Automatic Detection of Structural Deformations in Batteries from Imaging data using Machine Learning : Exploring the potential of different approaches for efficient structural deformation detection

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Maira Khan; [2023]
    Keywords : CT scan; electrode peaks; jelly roll; keypoints; structural deformation; traditional computer vision; deep neural network; CT-skanning; elektrodtoppar; gelérulle; nyckelpunkter; strukturell deformation; Traditionellt datorseende; djupt neuralt nätverk;

    Abstract : The increasing occurrence of structural deformations in the electrodes of the jelly roll has raised quality concerns during battery manufacturing, emphasizing the need to detect them automatically with the advanced techniques. This thesis aims to explore and provide two models based on traditional computer vision (CV) and deep neural network (DNN) techniques using computed tomography (CT) scan images of jelly rolls to ensure that the product is of high quality. 3. 3. Consensus Algorithms in Blockchain : A survey to create decision trees for blockchain applications

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Xinlin Zhu; [2023]
    Keywords : Blockchain; Cryptocurrency; Consensus Algorithms; Proof of Work; Proof of Stake; Hybrid Consensus; Decision Tree; Blockchain; Kryptovaluta; Consensus Algoritms; Proof of Work; Proof of Stake; Hybrid Consensus; Decision Tree;

    Abstract : Blockchain is a decentralized database that is distributed among a computer network. To enable a smooth decision making process without any authority, different blockchain applications use their own consensus algorithms. The problem is that for a new blockchain application, there is limited aid in deciding which algorithm it should implement. READ MORE

    Author : George Dawod Bassilious; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Technological advancements in large language models, such as OpenAI’s GPT-3 and the subsequent release of GPT-3.5, have opened up new paths for research. READ MORE

  5. 5. Estimation of dissolved organic carbon from inland waters using remote sensing data and machine learning

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Lasse Harkort; [2022]
    Keywords : dissolved organic carbon; machine learning; remote sensing; inland waters; water quality; open source data; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the first attempt to estimate Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) in inland waters over a large-scale area using satellite data and machine learning (ML) methods. Four ML approaches, namely Random Forest Regression (RFR), Support Vector Regression (SVR), Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), and a Multilayer Backpropagation Neural Network (MBPNN) were tested to retrieve DOC using a filtered version of the recently published open source AquaSat dataset with more than 16 thousand samples across the continental US matched with satellite data from Landsat 5, 7 and 8 missions.
