  1. 16. Non-Linear Assessment of a Concrete Bridge Slab Loaded to Failure

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Eriksson Isabell; Niklas Karlsson; [2016]
    Keywords : concrete; linear shear; punching shear; non-linear finite element analysis; Eurocode; Model Code; ATENA 3D; betong; skjuvning; genomstansning; icke-linjär finit-elementanalys; Eurocode; Model Code; ATENA 3D;

    Abstract : This thesis covers an investigation regarding the failure in the bridge slab of Gruvvägsbron, which was the result of the full scale test that the bridge was subjected to prior to demolition. Using the non-linear finite element software ATENA 3D, a model of the bridge was assembled, with the purpose to attempt to reenact the test procedure and realistically capture the failure load and behaviour. 2. 17. Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with Side Near Surface Mounted FRP : A parametric study based on finite element analysis

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Rewan Eredini; [2016]
    Keywords : Side near surface mounted reinforcement; Bottom near surface mounted reinforcement; Parametric study; FEM-analysis; Atena; Carbon fiber reinforced polymer;

    Abstract : Most of the today’s concrete structures are older than tenyears, and the need to strengthening existing structures is growing steadily. This is due to various reasons such as degradation due to ageing, environmentally induced degradation, poor initial design or construction and lack of maintenance, to name a few. READ MORE

  3. 18. Shear cracks in reinforced concrete in serviceability limit state

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Alexander Chemlali; Rickard Norberg; [2015]
    Keywords : Shear cracks; Serviceability limit state; Modified compression field theory; Reinforced concrete panels; Non-linear FE analysis; Wing wall; Skjuvsprickor; Bruksgränstillstånd; Modifierad tryckfältsteori; Armerade betongpaneler; Icke linjär FE-analys; Vingmur;

    Abstract : Shear cracks are formed when high oblique tensile stresses, e.g. in thin webs, exceed the tensile strength. A known example of this phenomenon is the extensive shear cracks that were found on the box-girder bridges Gröndal and Alvik, which were mainly caused by insufficient amount of shear reinforcement. 4. 19. Cracking Assessment of Concrete Slab Frame Bridges Exposed to Thermally Induced Restraint Forces

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Jonatan Ledin; Christensen Oskar; [2015]
    Keywords : Concrete slab frame bridges; Restraint forces; Thermal actions; Non linear FE analysis;

    Abstract : The usage of linear 3D FEA is widespread within the bridge design community, and although this tool provides substantial benefits in the design process, there are certain practical issues related to the application of this analysis tool. A situation in which such an issue prevails is when linear 3D FEA is used to analyze restraint forces due to thermal shrinkage or expansion in concrete slab frame bridges. READ MORE

  5. 20. Design of Hollow Reinforced Concrete Columns in the Tubed Mega Frame : Dimensionering av ihåliga armerade betongpelare i ”Tubed Mega Frame”

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : David Tönseth; Kristian Welchermill; [2014]
    Keywords : Reinforced Concrete; Hollow columns; Design; Tubed Mega Frame; Concrete;

    Abstract : A new concept for the structural system for tall buildings, called the “Tubed Mega Frame”, has been developed by Tyréns AB. The structure consists of several hollow reinforced concrete columns at the perimeter of the building and at certain levels, the columns are tied together with perimeter walls. READ MORE
