  1. 1. Modelling of injection of electrons by low-dimensional nanowire into a reservoir

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Teoretisk Fysik

    Author : Ivan Yakymenko; [2018]
    Keywords : quantum wire; magnetic electron focusing; electron flow; electron injector and detector; semiconductor heterostructure; two-dimensional electron gas;

    Abstract : High-mobility two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) which resides at the interface between GaAs and AlGaAs layered semiconductors has been used experimentally and theoretically to study ballistic electron transport. The present project is motivated by recent experiments in magnetic electron focusing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effects of geometry on electronstates in semiconductor quantumpoint contacts

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Rasmus Hytter; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Recent preliminary experiments appear to show that using the electron-electron interaction as a way to filter electrons through a quantum point contact (QPC) according to spin might be possible. The same experiments also show that the geometry of the constriction has an effect on the filtering. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantized Transmission in an Asymmetrically Biased Quantum Point Contact

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Teoretisk Fysik

    Author : Erik Johansson; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this project work we have studied how a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor heterostructure can be locally confined down to a narrow bottleneck constriction called a quantum point contact (QPC) and form an artificial quantum wire using a split-gate technique by application of negative bias voltages. The electron transport through the QPC and how asymmetric loading of bias voltages affects the nature of quantized conductance were studied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of Epitaxial Lift-Off to form GaAs nanowire array membranes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Erik Svensson; [2016]
    Keywords : MOVPE; MOCVD; AlGaAs; 111 B; Epitaxy; ELO; Epitaxial Lift-Off; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Epitaxial lift-off-layers (ELO) were developed in order to create nanowire array membranes, with the intent to pave the way for solar cells in tandem. Ultimately this thesis project focused only on growing and characterizing the ELO layers on (111)B oriented GaAs substrates with MOCVD, as this process step is not thoroughly understood in literature. 5. 5. The Influence of Oxygen on Nanowire Surface Structure and Electronic Properties

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Viktor Abelin; [2015]
    Keywords : Scanning tunneling microscopy; STM; Auger electron spectroscopy; AES; nanowire; hydrogen cleaning; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the possibilities for setups measuring how the surface structure of nanowires (NWs) influences their electric properties. For this the abilities to clean surfaces and detect nanowires (NWs) are examined, and an attempt to build a setup is made. READ MORE
