  1. 1. Chemical analysis of polycyclic aromatic compounds in plastic materials used in indoor environments

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Lania Yara; [2023]
    Keywords : polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; additives; plastics; artificial leather;

    Abstract : Human bodies are in constant interaction with materials containing known and unknown chemicals of hazardous behavior. One group of chemicals are polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) which can be present in both indoor and outdoor materials, commonly in plastics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Application of mass defect filtering and statistical analysis for non-target data mining of gas and soot data from a study testing different firefighting methods

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Danielle Ydstål; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Due to the high temperatures during a fire event, a large variety of compounds are formed or released from burning materials, all of which have a varying degree of environmental effects. In an incidental fire there are several variables that are important for which and how much combustion products that are formed, including the burning material, ventilation (presence of air), and temperature. 3. 3. Biomonitoring of soil remediation workers´ exposure to polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) – method development and characterisation of PACs in blood

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Julia Jejdling; [2019]
    Keywords : occupational exposure; creosote; contaminated sites; gas chromatography-mass spectrometry GC-MS .;

    Abstract : For a long period of time, it has been common to use creosote for impregnation of railroad ties. Creosote consists of 85% polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), of which some are carcinogenic and/or mutagenic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Determination of Polyoxymethylene (POM) : Water Partition Coefficients for Alkylated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons by Use of GC/MS

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Malin Bergman; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Methods to measure the concentration of freely dissolved PAHs in pore water have been developed and are based on the usage of passive samplers, in this case polyoxymethylene (POM). Spiked samples (containing PAHs with 4-5 rings, methylated PAHs with 2-5 rings and dibenzothiophenes in three different concentrations) were placed on an end-over-end shaker for 28 days, to obtain equilibrium between the amount of PAHs accumulated on the POM strips and the amount of PAHs freely dissolved in the water. 5. 5. Analysis of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Freshwater Snails of Family Lymnaeidae from Patholmsviken

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Malin Karlsson; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAHs) are a group of organic compounds that are very stable and therefore persistent. They can be pyrogenic or petrogenic and PAHs from petrogenic sources are often enriched with alkylated PAHs while pyrogenic sources often contain more of the parent PAH. READ MORE
