  1. 6. Lifetime prediction of a polymeric propellant binder using the Arrhenius approach

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Author : Johannes Bohlin; [2021]
    Keywords : Polymer; Thermal-oxidative degradation; Lifetime prediction; Propellant; Arrhenius; Aging experiments; Diffusion-limited oxidation;

    Abstract : The thermal-oxidative degradation of a crosslinked hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)/cycloaliphatic diisocyanate (H12MDI) based polymer, which is commonly used as a polymeric binder in propellants, is investigated at temperatures from 95°C to 125°C with the aim of estimating the lifetime of the material in storage conditions (20°C) using the Arrhenius approach. Furthermore, the effect of antioxidants and to a lesser extent plasticizer on the degradation process was also studied. READ MORE

  2. 7. Unveiling structural heterogeneities in aqueous solutions using dynamic light scattering

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Oskar Eklund; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : To investigate the existence  of  molecular heterogeneties in mixtures of DMSO-water, the dynamics were measured with the method of dynamic light scattering (DLS). Three different compositions (20 mol %, 33 mol% and 60 mol%) were included in the study and measured at room temperature (295 K) and for one composition (33 mol %) also a temperature dependence (from 295 K down to 263 K) was measured. 3. 8. Hydrodynamic modelling of fate and transport of natural organic matter and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in Lake Ekoln

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Frida Ekman; [2021]
    Keywords : Ekoln; Natural organic matter NOM ; Total organic matter TOC ; Colour; degradation; sedimentation; photooxidation; PFAS; MIKE 3 FM; Ekoln; naturligt organiskt material NOM ; totalt organiskt kol TOC ; färg; nedbrytning; sedimentation; foto-oxidation; PFAS; MIKE 3 FM;

    Abstract : Societies are facing great challenges with obtaining a good quality and quantity of drinking water in the context of climate change. Increases in natural organic matter (NOM) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been observed in lakes and drinking water the past years, which is of great concern for water treatment plants in Sweden. 4. 9. Rheological behaviour of probiotic bacteria dispersed in maltodextrin and sucrose solutions

    University essay from Malmö universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa och samhälle (HS)

    Author : Nousin Akter; [2020]
    Keywords : Lactobacillus reuteri; Maltodextrin; Probiotic bacteria; Rheological properties; Sucrose;

    Abstract : Probiotic bacteria are live microorganisms, which manifest health benefits in humans. The goal of this work was to characterize rheological properties of probiotic bacteria (Lactobacillus reuteri) formulation in which maltodextrin and sucrose used as excipients. READ MORE

  5. 10. Defining Black: Characterization of Soot Reactivity with Thermogravimetrical Methods : Definiera svart: Karaktärisering av sotreaktivitet med termogravimetriska metoder

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Adarsh Roy Choudhury; [2020]
    Keywords : Diesel Particulate Filter; Chemical Kinetics;

    Abstract : Exhaust emissions in a vehicle has to flow through an exhaust aftertreatment in a diesel vehicle. In a diesel engine, the exhaust emissions are treated with Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). Every engine produces a different kind of soot depending on the drive cycle. READ MORE
