  1. 1. Risk assessment of non-intentionally added substances in polyester yarn made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Kristina Arnqvist; [2023]
    Keywords : r-PET; polyester yarn; NIAS; risk assessment;

    Abstract : Polyester is a synthetic material made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is synthesised from fossil raw materials. Many clothing manufacturers are using polyester in their clothing, which, from an environmental perspective, creates a non-sustainable cycle. READ MORE

  2. 2. Impact of BPA, BPF and Mixture N1 on DNA-Methylation of GRIN2B and NR3C1 during human neuroprogenitor cell differentiation

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning; Uppsala universitet/Fysiologi och miljötoxikologi

    Author : Franziska Sophie Richter; [2023]
    Keywords : Epigenetics; Endocrine disrupting chemicals; DNA methylation; EDCs; Mixture effects; BPA; BPF; Mixture N1;

    Abstract : Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are ubiquitous and their adverse impact on nature, wildlife and humans is extensively researched. We are constantly exposed to EDCs, such as the widespread and extensively researched Bisphenol A, as well as its substitute Bisphenol F, which is coming into wider use, even though it is much less is researched and limited information is available about its endocrine effects. 3. 3. Catalytic synthesis of benign bisphenols

    University essay from KTH/Kemi

    Author : Victoria Chu; Emma Lundqvist; Hampus Hagelin; [2022]
    Keywords : Bisphenols; Vanillyl alcohol; Friedel-Crafts alkylation; Lewis acid catalysis; Sustainability; Bisfenoler; Vanillylalkohol; Friedel-Crafts alkylering; Lewissyra-katalys; Hållbarhet;

    Abstract : This study analyzes the reactivity and selectivity of Friedel-Crafts alkylations using benzylic alcohols and phenols in the presence of a Lewis acid, to synthesize methoxylated bisphenols as a benign alternative to BPA. The degree of methoxylation on the electrophile appears to affect the yield of the reaction while the degree of methoxylation on the nucleophile appears to affect the selectivity. READ MORE

  4. 4. A REVIEW ON THE ROLE OF A SELECTION OF BISPHENOLS IN ADIPOGENESIS

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för farmaci

    Author : Hildur Palenius; [2021]
    Keywords : Adipogenesis; bisphenol; endocrine disrupting chemicals; obesity;

    Abstract : Obesity is a growing global problem, and it is now considered to be a health problem with epidemic status. The condition is associated with several serious comorbidities, such as cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This makes it highly relevant to seek for solutions to the obesity issue. 5. 5. Design, production and evaluation of cross linked target proteins to an affibody-based carrier framework aimed for affinity protein: antigen structure determination using single particle Cryo-EM

    University essay from KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Author : Richard Brunsell; [2021]
    Keywords : Cryo-EM; Structure determination; Protein A; Affibody; Aldolase; Scaffold; Rigid helix fusion; Photoconjugation; UV crosslinking; BPA;

    Abstract : Small proteins are difficult to study at high resolution with single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). In general, sample properties such as large size (> 80 kDa), symmetry and rigidity are key to utilize this technology. READ MORE
