  1. 1. Reliability-Based Sensitivity Analysis of the Dynamic Response of Railway Bridges

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Hasan Al-Zubaidi; [2022]
    Keywords : Railway bridges; High-speed trains; Simply supported beam; Global sensitivity analysis; Uncertainty quantification; Reliability; Ballast instability; Running safety; Passenger comfort;

    Abstract : In response to the planned increase in operational speeds and axle loads of passengertrains that may lead to resonance-induced excessive vibrations in railway bridges,recent studies examined the reliability of bridges concerning train running safety andpassenger comfort limit states. In this respect, valuable information regarding theimportance of input variables can be obtained by conducting Sensitivity Analysis (SA). READ MORE

  2. 2. Train Induced Vibration Analysis of an End-frame Bridge : Numerical Analysis on Sidensjövägen

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Niklas Wiberg; Jasmin Halilovic; [2018]
    Keywords : Accelerations; Dynamics; End-frame bridge; FE-modeling; Frequency response function; High-speed railway; Soil structure interaction; Train induced vibrations; 2D 3D;

    Abstract : Higher speeds and higher capacity will cause the Swedish rail network to be exposed to disturbing dynamic effects. Higher speeds cause higher vertical acceleration levels of the bridge deck. In this thesis, a numerical analysis of a three span end-frame bridge subjected to train induced vibrations is performed. 3. 3. Vibration Control of a High-Speed Railway Bridge Using Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Heydar Beygi; [2015]
    Keywords : Tuned mass dampers; Dynamic analysis; high-speed railway bridge; Banafjäl bridge;

    Abstract : In the current thesis, the Banafjäl Bridge located on the Bothnia line (Botniabanan) in northern Sweden was studied. The bridge is a 40m long composite ballasted high-speed railway bridge. A 3D FE model of the bridge was developed using a commercial FE software, Abaqus. The FE model was calibrated against the measured data of the bridge. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effect of axle load spreading and support stiffness on the dynamic response of short span railway bridges

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Annelie Syk; Erik Axelsson; [2013]
    Keywords : short span railway bridges; dynamic response; finite element analysis; load spread; support stiffness; korta järnvägsbroar; dynamisk respons; analys med finita element; lastspridning; stödstyvhet;

    Abstract : In this thesis the effect of axle load spreading through ballast and the effect of support stiffness has been investigated on short span railway bridges. Two types of bridges, simply supported bridges and bridges with integrated backwalls, have been modeled with 2D beam elements. READ MORE

  5. 5. Influence of the ballast on the dynamic properties of a truss railway bridge

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Lucie Bornet; [2013]
    Keywords : Ballast; Railway bridges; Experimental dynamics; Finite element modelling; Natural frequencies; Eigenmodes; Bridge stiffness.;

    Abstract : To deal with a rapid development of high-speed trains and high-speed railways, constant improvement of the railway infrastructure is necessary and engineers are continuously facing challenges in order to design efficient and optimized structures. Nowadays, more and more railway bridges are built and thus, they require the engineers’ attention both regarding their design and their maintenance. READ MORE
