  1. 1. Adapting FDM 3D-printing for the manufacture of microfluidic devices

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Oskar Andersson; [2021]
    Keywords : 3D-printing; addative manufacturing; fused deposition modelling; FDM; fused filament fabrication; FFF; microfluidics; microfluidic devices; lab-on-a-chip; microchannels; micro-channels; resolution; settings; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Microfluidic devices have so far not seen widespread use, even though they could potentially be cheaper, better and faster than traditional methods. A possible reason for this is the lack of a middle step between one-of-a-kind experimental devices and cheap mass produced devices. READ MORE

  2. 2. A comparative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of centralized and decentralized wastewater heat recovery in Stockholm, Sweden

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Deniz Pektas; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The cities bear a large role in the climate crisis. However, this also means that they have a big potential in the transition towards sustainable communities and a sustainable world. Up to 90 % of energy use within the urban water cycle is allocated to hot water heating for end users. READ MORE

  3. 3. Influence of load distribution on trough bridges

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Jacob Gustafsson; [2021]
    Keywords : Bridge; Trough bridge; Concrete; Load distribution; Ballast;

    Abstract : There are approximately 4000 railway bridges in Sweden and a common construction type is the short span concrete trough bridge. With the current standards the load distribution through ballast is assumed to be uniformly distributed with a distribution slope of 2:1 according to the Swedish Administration of Transport or 4:1 according to Eurocode 1. 4. 4. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field. 5. 5. #sustainabletransport : A FAIR Cross-Platform Social Media Analysis Approach to Sociotechnical Sustainable Transport Research

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för kulturvetenskaper (KV)

    Author : Michael Stiebe; [2021]
    Keywords : Digital Humanities; Cross-Platform Analysis; Instagram; Twitter; Social Big Data; Sustainable Mobility; Sustainable Transport; Sociotechnical Transitions;

    Abstract : The paper reports findings from a FAIR principles-based research project dedicated to investigating how cross-field research between the DH and Sociotechnical Sustainable Transport Research could help to enhance the holistic understanding of sociotechnical low-carbon transport transitions.  Using the hashtag search queries #sustainabletransport and #sustainablemobility, 33,121 Tweets (2013-2021) and 8,089 Instagram images including captions (2017/2018-2021) were mined using Python scripts.
