  1. 1. Gaussian Process Multiclass Classification : Evaluation of Binarization Techniques and Likelihood Functions

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för matematik (MA)

    Author : Benjamin Ringdahl; [2019]
    Keywords : Machine learning; Gaussian process classification; Laplace s approximation; Likelihood functions; Binarization techniques; Class imbalance;

    Abstract : In binary Gaussian process classification the prior class membership probabilities are obtained by transforming a Gaussian process to the unit interval, typically either with the logistic likelihood function or the cumulative Gaussian likelihood function. Multiclass classification problems can be handled by any binary classifier by means of so-called binarization techniques, which reduces the multiclass problem into a number of binary problems. 2. 2. Fingerprint Segmentation

    University essay from Datateknik

    Author : Diala Jomaa; [2009]
    Keywords : Biometric system; fingerprint Recognition System; Otsu; Split and Merge; Histogram Equalization; mean; variance and coherence;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a new algorithm has been proposed to segment the foreground of the fingerprint from the image under consideration. The algorithm uses three features, mean, variance and coherence. Based on these features, a rule system is built to help the algorithm to efficiently segment the image. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation of biometric security systems against artificial fingers

    University essay from Institutionen för systemteknik

    Author : Johan Blommé; [2003]
    Keywords : Informationsteknik; biometric; artificial fingers; fingerprint scanners; minutiae; pattern matching; intrusion methods; normalization; binarization; direction field analysis; thinning algorithms; Informationsteknik;

    Abstract : Verification of users’ identities are normally carried out via PIN-codes or ID- cards. Biometric identification, identification of unique body features, offers an alternative solution to these methods. Fingerprint scanning is the most common biometric identification method used today.
