  1. 1. Impact of BPA, BPF and Mixture N1 on DNA-Methylation of GRIN2B and NR3C1 during human neuroprogenitor cell differentiation

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning; Uppsala universitet/Fysiologi och miljötoxikologi

    Author : Franziska Sophie Richter; [2023]
    Keywords : Epigenetics; Endocrine disrupting chemicals; DNA methylation; EDCs; Mixture effects; BPA; BPF; Mixture N1;

    Abstract : Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are ubiquitous and their adverse impact on nature, wildlife and humans is extensively researched. We are constantly exposed to EDCs, such as the widespread and extensively researched Bisphenol A, as well as its substitute Bisphenol F, which is coming into wider use, even though it is much less is researched and limited information is available about its endocrine effects. 2. 2. Evaluation of critical instrument parameters for the transfer of LC-MS quantification methods between LC-MS/MS and Orbitrap MS

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Anna Stepanova; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Transferring analytical methods is crucial in chemical laboratories. The need for the transfer may arise for different reasons such as sharing data between different laboratories, replacement or upgrade of analytical instrument, or limited instruments available etc. The performance and sensitivity of different instruments may vary. 3. 3. An Investigation of The Link Between Endocrine Disruption and Developmental Neurotoxicity Induced by Environmental Pollutants : In Zebrafish Embryos

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för cell- och molekylärbiologi; Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Maria Revenikioti; [2023]
    Keywords : Endocrine-disrupting chemical EDC ; Environmental pollutants; Endocrine disruption ED ; Developmental neurotoxicity DNT ; Development; Zebrafish embryos; Estradiol; DHT; BPF; PFOS.;

    Abstract : Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are known to cause endocrine disruption (ED), developmental neurotoxicity (DNT), infertility and impaired embryo development. EDCs do therefore impose a threat to humans, wildlife and the environment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Catalytic synthesis of benign bisphenols

    University essay from KTH/Kemi

    Author : Victoria Chu; Emma Lundqvist; Hampus Hagelin; [2022]
    Keywords : Bisphenols; Vanillyl alcohol; Friedel-Crafts alkylation; Lewis acid catalysis; Sustainability; Bisfenoler; Vanillylalkohol; Friedel-Crafts alkylering; Lewissyra-katalys; Hållbarhet;

    Abstract : This study analyzes the reactivity and selectivity of Friedel-Crafts alkylations using benzylic alcohols and phenols in the presence of a Lewis acid, to synthesize methoxylated bisphenols as a benign alternative to BPA. The degree of methoxylation on the electrophile appears to affect the yield of the reaction while the degree of methoxylation on the nucleophile appears to affect the selectivity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analysis of epigenetic changes induced by exposure to a mixture of endocrine disrupting chemicals in the mouse brain and a hippocampus mouse cell model

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Miljötoxikologi; Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Jennifer Ekholm Lodahl; [2021]
    Keywords : Epigenetics; Endocrine disrupting chemicals; DNA methylation; EDCs;

    Abstract : Prenatal exposure to mixture N1, a chemical mixture consisting of four phthalate diesters,three pesticides and Bisphenol A, has been associated with behavioural changes as well as changes in gene expression in mice. In this study it was investigated whether the changes in gene expression could be explained by changes in DNA methylation. READ MORE
