  1. 1. Convolutional Neural Networks for Classification of Prostate Cancer Metastases Using Bone Scan Images

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Lewis Belcher; [2017]
    Keywords : Theoretical Physics; Machine Learning; Supervised Learning; Artificial Neural Networks; Convolutional Neural Networks; Image Classification; Deep Learning; Prostate Cancer; Metastatic Disease; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are used to classify directly on bone scan images in two medical tasks: classifying anterior / posterior pose, and classifying bone scan hotspots as metastatic / non-metastatic in patients with prostate cancer and suspected metastatic disease. The networks trained produce highly accurate results in both tasks and current methods are outperformed for all tested body regions when classifying metastatic / non-metastatic hotspots. READ MORE

  2. 2. Classification in Bone Scintigraphy Images Using Convolutional Neural Networks

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik LTH

    Author : Johnny Dang; [2016]
    Keywords : machine learning; deep learning; neural networks; convolutional neural networks; artificial neural network; ANN; CNN; bone scintigraphy; bone scan; prostate cancer; bone metastasis; bone scan index; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The main goal of this thesis is to design and implement a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify whether hotspots in bone scintigraphy images represent cancer metastases, caused by prostate cancer, or some other physiological process. A side task was included, where another CNN was designed and trained to classify whether a bone scintigraphy image image is acquired from the front of the patient (anterior) or from the back (posterior). 3. 3. Volumetric Quantification of Metastatic Burden from SPECT/CT Images

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik LTH

    Author : Hanna Carlsson; [2012]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Bone scintigraphy images are used to investigate the presence of metastases in patients with prostate cancer. An analysis of these images indicates the proportion of cancer in the bones; the Bone Scan Index (BSI). This value is an important prognostic factor used to predict the future for the patients. 4. 4. Cutaneous Melanoma in the Grey Horse

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Author : Julia Bengtström; [2011]
    Keywords : equine cutaneous melanoma; grey horse; neoplasm; tumor; ekvina kutana melanom; häst ; skimmel; neoplasi; tumör;

    Abstract : Equine cutaneous melanomas arise much more often in horses with a grey coat color than in horses of other colors. Some scientists have in different studies come to the conclusion that the melanomas are neoplasms which can be classified by examining their histological and macroscopic features. READ MORE
