  1. 1. Bootstrapping methods for assessing causality in survival analysis: A case study on major adverse cardiovascular events

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Paulina Benthem Ciano; [2023]
    Keywords : Causality; Graphical models; Bootstrap; Survival analysis; Additive hazards model.; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : The combination of graphical models with Aalen's additive hazards model, resulting in a model known as dynamical path analysis, permits assessing the effects of different variables on times until an event and decomposing these total effects into direct and indirect effects. This thesis proposes novel bootstrapping methods designed for left-truncated right-censored data, conditional on covariates within the framework of Aalen's additive hazards model, in order to obtain confidence intervals for the estimates. 2. 2. Estimating Causal Effects Of Relapse Treatment On The Risk For Acute Myocardial Infarction Among Patients With Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Statistiska institutionen

    Author : Jakob Börsum; [2021]
    Keywords : Causal Inference; Survival; Analysis; Marginal Structural Model;

    Abstract : This empirical register study intends to estimate average causal effects of relapse treatment on the risk for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) among patients with Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) within the potential outcome framework. The report includes a brief introduction to causal inference and survival anal- ysis and mentions specific causal parameters of interest that will be estimated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Extreme value modeling of wind effect on dune erosion on the Coast of ̈Angelholm

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Lionel Arpin-Pont; [2020]
    Keywords : Erosion; Wind speed; Extreme value theory; Block maxima; Peaks over threshold; Copula; Husler-Reiss; Dependence function.; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : The movement of the coast line, due to erosion in one direction or aggregation in theother is a natural process as waves, wind as well as the geological nature of the coast itselfare affecting it. Sand dunes are the main protection coasts have at their disposal againstfloods during storm surges or from more passive but long range rainfalls. READ MORE

  4. 4. Risk Modeling of Sustainable Mutual Funds Using GARCH Time Series

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Erik Malmgren; Annie Zhang; [2020]
    Keywords : GARCH; ARMA-GARCH; Risk Modeling; Time Series; Volatility; Value at Risk; Sustainable Investments; SRI; ESG; Mutual Funds; Morningstar; GARCH; ARMA-GARCH; Riskmodellering; Tidsserie; Volatilitet; Value at risk; Hållbara investeringar; SRI; ESG; Fonder; Morningstar;

    Abstract : The demand for sustainable investments has seen an increase in recent years. There is considerable literature covering backtesting of the performance and risk of socially responsible investments (SRI) compared to conventional investments. READ MORE

  5. 5. Treatment-mediator interaction when estimating causal effects

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Statistik

    Author : Joakim Wallmark; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In a variety of disciplines, causal mediation analysis is routinely conducted by researchers to examine the roles of variables which lie in the causal paths between the treatment and outcome variables. These effects are commonly estimated using a parametric model approach, where one fits regression models for the mediator and outcome variables. READ MORE
