  1. 1. Validation of the Westinghouse BWR nodal core simulator POLCA8 against Serpent2 reference results

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Mathilde Gaillard; [2021]
    Keywords : Nodal Core Analysis; Monte Carlo Methods; CBH Effects; Nodal kärnanalys; Monte Carlo-metoder; CBH-effekter;

    Abstract : When a new nodal core simulator is developed, like all other simulators, it must go through an extensive verification and validation effort where, in the first stage, it will be tested against appropriate reference tools in various theoretical benchmark problems. The series of tests consist of comparing several geometries, from the simplest to the most complex, by simulating them with the nodal core simulator developed and with some higher order solver representing the reference solution, in this case on the Serpent2 Monte Carlo transport code. 2. 2. Simple Indoor Environmental Monitoring System for Houseplant using Web and Mobile Applications

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Maher Jabbar; [2020]
    Keywords : Houseplant monitoring system; Environmental sensors; Raspberry; Web Application; Mobile Application; Internet of Things.;

    Abstract : In recent times, attention to the indoor plants in the houses has increased, which can be used to produce food or just for decoration and for health purposes. However, moving plants from their original place in nature to a closed place leads to negative effects due to changing environmental parameters around them. READ MORE

  3. 3. Metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli for direct production of 4-hydroxybutyrate from glucose

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Sussan Alipour; [2020]
    Keywords : Escherichia coli; 4- hydroxybutyrate; 4-HB dehydrogenase; 2-oxoglutarate decarboxylase; metabolic engineering; TCA cycle; Succinyl semialdehyde;

    Abstract : Growing concerns of the negative effects on the environment and dependency of fossil fuelsare major driving forces for finding novel sustainable production pathways for plastic.Metabolic engineering has emerged as a powerful tool to enable microorganisms to producenon-native metabolites. 4. 4. Colloidal self-assembly of anisotropic gold nanoparticles

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Samuel Emilsson; [2020]
    Keywords : Self-assembly; Gold nanoparticle; Anisotropic; Nanobipyramid; Surface plasmon resonance; Självsammansättningar; Guldnanopartiklar; Anisotrop; Nanobipyramider; Ytplasmonresonans;

    Abstract : The colloidal self-assembly of plasmonic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is of interest to utilize the plasmonic coupling effects that arise between nanoparticles. The enhanced properties of anisotropic AuNPs make them particularly attractive in self-assemblies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extracting Adverse Drug Reactions from Product Labels using Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Shachi Bista; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Pharamacovigilance relates to activities involving drug safety monitoring in the post-marketing phase of the drug development life-cycle. Despite rigorous trials and experiments that drugs undergo before they are available in the market, they can still cause previously unobserved side-effects (also known as adverse events) due to drug–drug interaction, genetic, physiological or demographic reasons.
