  1. 1. Exploring electroweak symmetry breaking in the scale-invariant Two-Higgs-Doublet Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Erik Rustas; [2023]
    Keywords : Two-Higgs-Doublet Models; 2HDM; Scale-invariance; Baryogenesis; BSM; Baryon Asymmetry; Coleman-Weinberg Potential; Theoretical Particle Physics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the properties of a general scale-invariant Two-Higgs-Doublet Model and its phenomenological consequences with focus on the scalar sector. The concept suggests that introducing more CP-violation, both spontaneous and explicit, may make it possible to meet the Sakharov conditions and account for the Universe's baryon asymmetry. 2. 2. Three-body decay as a baryon polarizer

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Carl Johan Königsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Three-body decay; polarization; CP violation; hyperon; resonance; Trekroppssönderfall; polarisation; CP-brytning; hyperon; resonans;

    Abstract : According to the standard model, the size of CP violation in the weak decay Λ → pπ- is predicted to be ∼ 10-5. This means that a very high precision is needed if we want to be able to measure it. READ MORE

  3. 3. A study of Spontenous CP Violation in the Scale Invariant 2HDM

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Jimmy Gunnarsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study the Higgs mass spectrum and spontaneous CP violation, where one of the Higgs vacuum expectation values acquires a non-trivial phase θ in a Type-I 2HDM. We begin by investigating CP violating effects at tree-level, and then expand our studies by taking into account one-loop radiative corrections. READ MORE

  4. 4. CP Violation Studies in Cascade Decay Sequence

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Kärnfysik

    Author : Roman Sultanov; [2022]
    Keywords : CP violation; cascade; decay; asymmetry parameters; polarisation; uncertainty;

    Abstract : This thesis studies CP violation in the decay of the Ξ− hyperon, also known as the cascade baryon, which decays in the sequence Ξ− → Λπ− → pπ−π−. A difference between the angular distribution of this decay sequence and the angular distribution of the charge conjugate decay sequence ͞Ξ+ →͞Λπ+ → ͞pπ+π+, after taking into account the inversion of the momenta due to the parity operation, is indicative of CP violation. 5. 5. Investigation of the Effects of Invisible Neutrino Decay at the Proposed ESSnuSB Experiment

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Daniel Kempe; [2021]
    Keywords : Neutrino; Decay; Neutrino oscillations; Neutrino oscillation experiment; Neutrino; Sönderfall; Neutrinooscillationer; Neutrinooscillationsexperiment;

    Abstract : This thesis studies neutrino oscillations at the proposed ESSnuSB experiment and the effects of invisible decay, where the neutrino mass states are assumed to be able to decay, on the planned measurements and the physics potential for this experiment to detect neutrino decays. This is accomplished by simulating a combined scenario of neutrino oscillations and invisible neutrino decay. READ MORE
