  1. 1. Using Sentinel-2 Satellite Images to Estimate Traits of Forage Grasslands

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Agricultural Research for Northern Sweden

    Author : Niklas Zeiner; [2021]
    Keywords : Remote sensing; Forage grasslands; Sentinel-2; Dry matter yield; Canopy average height; Total leaf chlorophyll content; Partial least squares; Support vector machines;

    Abstract : In this project, regression models based on data from field measurements and spectral information extracted from satellite imagery were used to estimate traits of forage grasslands; dry matter yield, canopy average height and total leaf chlorophyll. Four fields at SLUs Röbäcksdalen field station were sampled on 22 occasions and a total of 198 samples, including measurement of the highest plant, canopy height, leaf chlorophyll content, canopy spectral reflectance and biomass were collected. 2. 2. Kartering av lämnade hänsynsområden vid slutavverkning med hjälp av fjärranalys

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Resource Management

    Author : August Nilsson; [2020]
    Keywords : hänsyn; slutavverkning; fjärranalys; laserskanning; drönare; skog;

    Abstract : Vid slutavverkning av skog är det viktigt att hänsynsområden lämnas kvar för att gynna den biologiska mångfalden. Den här studien har undersökt om lämnade hänsynsområden vid en slutavverkning kan kartläggas med hjälp av fjärranalys. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plant functional diversity across a spatial climate gradient in Sweden

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Nina Lončarević; [2019]
    Keywords : landscape ecology; plant functional ecology;

    Abstract : Introduction. Climate is a well-known and well-studied abiotic driver of the natural world working through e.g. physiological alterations in species, changes in species’ ranges and growing season, reduction in growth or causing mortality. READ MORE

  4. 4. Degradation and restoration method interact to affect the performance of planted seedlings in tropical rainforest restoration : evidence from plant functional traits

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Julia Mellåker; [2016]
    Keywords : Dipterocarpaceae; enrichment planting; INIKEA; secondary rainforest; hjälpplantering; sekundär regnskog;

    Abstract : A common action to improve or save biodiversity in the tropics is restoration of degraded rainforest. To understand the complex ecological structures of the forest and adapt the restoration actions after them, studies have focused on characterizing species with functional traits. READ MORE

  5. 5. Feasibility of a low-cost weather sensor network for agricultural purposes : a preliminary assessment

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Kees Van Duijvendijk; [2015]
    Keywords : coffee; microclimates; Costa Rica; Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; spatio-temporal interpolation; GIS; micro-sensors; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This study has focused on challenges encountered when setting up a weather-network for agricultural purposes (e.g. linking temperature to the suitability of crops and pest incidence) with only low-cost sensors and materials. READ MORE
