  1. 1. Multistressors Related to Climate Change and Their Effects on Global Biodiversity during the Cenozoic Age

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

    Author : Robin Mårtensson; [2018]
    Keywords : multistressors; biodiversity; paleontology; Paleocene; Eocene; Oligocene; Miocene; Pliocene; Pleistocene; sea level; deep ocean temperature; sea surface temperature; carbon dioxide; foraminifera; ocean circulation; Cenozoic; paleoceanography; climate change; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : As multistressors have been shown to have significant effects on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, the following study was made with the purpose of examining how a number of stressors specifically connected to climate change may have varied during the latest 65,5 million years and whether it is possible to predict potential effects on global biodiversity in the future. The analyses focused on global species richness during the Cenozoic age along with variables such as variations in atmospheric CO2, sea surface temperatures and global sea levels derived from analyses of various stable isotopes found in marine sediments. 2. 2. Cenozoic history of North Atlantic deep sea carbonate preservation

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Marcus Länje; [2015]
    Keywords : Carbonate compensation depth; CCD; IODP; ODP; DSDP; Atlantic Ocean; subsidence modeling; Cenozoic; database of sediment lithologies; Google Earth;

    Abstract : Carbonate preservation in the oceans occurs at a depth called the carbonate compensation depth (CCD). The CCD is where the input rate of carbonate from the surface of the ocean is balanced by the dissolution rate. READ MORE

  3. 3. Palynological investigation of coal-bearing deposits of the Thar Coal Field Sindh, Pakistan

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Pardeep Kumar; [2012]
    Keywords : hydrocarbons; Eocene; Paleocene; pollen; coal; Pakistan; palynofacies; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Palynologiska och sedimentologiska studier av prover från en borrkärna från Thar-kolfältet (nedre Indus Bassängen), Pakistan har genomförts. De kenozoiska sedimenten ligger på det granitiska urberget (som utgör den Indiska skölden) och utgörs främst av kolavlagringarna vilka är mellanlagrade av sandsten och silt-sten.. READ MORE

    Abstract : This is a study of the influence of the crystalline basement faults of the Polotsk-Kurzeme and the Småland-Blekinge Deformation Zones on the development of the sedimentary cover and the formation of the present topography. The purpose is to define the character and possible causes of this influence. READ MORE
